330ml brown bottle. 2011 vintage. Pours deep brown, some ruby highlights. Small and thin tan cap. Nose is malty, raisiny, touch of brown sugar. Taste has dark chocolatey malt, slight fruity note, raisin, toffee, light roast. Finishes with some hop bitterness and a touch roast and chocolate. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Lots of rich malts, rather roasty for the style, but enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0,33 bottle purchased at the Beerville store in Belgrade-Serbia. Ciao Vlada. Pour reddish and dark brown, infinite ivory foam which remains tick on the surface. Nose: definitely some sour notes, tobacco leafs, red fruits, light dust note. Mouth: English all the way! Medium low carbonation, watery body with a side prominent feeling of cherries, burnt malt, bitter and dry end. A very good one, very elegant English beer (as a friend of mine would point out).

Barley Wine? Litt kaffepreg i avslutningen.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Malty yet prototypical English appeal, certainly not too sweet. I enjoy the spicy hops and different fermentation aromas than most beers. Enough sweetness, tasty stuff. Enjoyable beer at modest abv for the style (nowadays). (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

Tan fun head. Dark brown beer (okay though, it’s mahogany!!). Maffy bottle label. Earthy dusty malty aroma. Tastes dark malts, coffee liquorice notes and some chocolate, some leafy hops. Normal body. Dark malty caramelly finish with roasted touch. Clean. Nice, and feels lighter than the abv.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is sweet malts, honey, whiskey and clove. Taste is sweet light malts with a touch of rye and a well balanced bitterness. Not too complex but satisfying. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.
