330ml brown bottle. 2011 vintage. Pours deep brown, some ruby highlights. Small and thin tan cap. Nose is malty, raisiny, touch of brown sugar. Taste has dark chocolatey malt, slight fruity note, raisin, toffee, light roast. Finishes with some hop bitterness and a touch roast and chocolate. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Lots of rich malts, rather roasty for the style, but enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Beers of Europe
Very dark ruby brown, clear, frothy fluffy beige head, some lacing
Aroma of dark stone fruits, hedgerow fruits, bit woody, soft spicy fruit hops, soft roast, some rust, some yeast, quite complex. That rusty earthy note takes over.
Taste of dark fruity malts, dark fruits, very soft roast, some earthy hops, dab of liquorice, quite complex, taste much better than nose
Palate - soft carb, medium body, quite rich, smooth, fairly sweet, alcohol well hidden, soft twiggy bitter hops. Finish has some more sweet dark malts, then a bit dry on the tail
Overall - Seems to me to be more of a strong old ale than a barley wine.

Pours a quite dark brown color, topped with a very nice tan colored head. Roasty aroma, some nutty and herbal notes can also be picked up. Sweet and fruity start, roasted body with a mildly bitter finish. Some alcohol can also be tasted, but still quite drinkable. Not bad.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2015 Sometimes I like seasonal (most of them are simply bad) beers, and Adnams Tally-Ho is one of those. This December beer is with small head, usual christmas aromas, but very nice and very drinkable. Very nice, well hidden alcohol. Would like to have it during the year.
