330ml bottle pours a dark brown color with a small light beige head that leaves only small traces of lacing. Aroma is of dark fruits with roasty notes. Taste is a dark chocolate and fruity sweetness with a light hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light carbonation. A good representation of the style and recommended.

Tan fun head. Dark brown beer (okay though, it’s mahogany!!). Maffy bottle label. Earthy dusty malty aroma. Tastes dark malts, coffee liquorice notes and some chocolate, some leafy hops. Normal body. Dark malty caramelly finish with roasted touch. Clean. Nice, and feels lighter than the abv. [33cl btl, abv7.2%, BB31/08/2016, 5€, B@Vinmonopolet]

Aroma is medium to heavy malty, with notes of caramel; medium hoppy, with notes of resin and herbs; additional notes of fruit. Taste is medium sweet, little bitter. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation.

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Extremely dark ruby-red with a very thin head. Has a sweetened, somewhat sugary nose and taste with a darker fruitiness here.

More like dunkel not barley wine -.-. Malt profile, light roasted malts, some dried fruits, bread. Some sweetness with moderate to light bitterness. Drinkable, but nothing special.

Aroma is sweet malts, honey, whiskey and clove. Taste is sweet light malts with a touch of rye and a well balanced bitterness. Not too complex but satisfying. Appearance is a clear amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

inbirraveritas (1292) - Budapest, HUNGARY - FEB 3, 2015
Bottled, 330 ml. Opal ruby brown colour with a lasting finger thick creamy beige head on its top. Nose of in alcohol dipped fruits, chocolate, earth... Complex and refined aroma containing caramel, chocolate, dried fruits and alcohol, texture is oily. Long and dry finish escorted by earth, citrusses and nuts underpainted by gently warming alcohol. Very enjoyable.

stravale (2370) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - JAN 25, 2015
Bottle from Beers of Europe [240115]
Very dark ruby brown, clear, frothy fluffy beige head, some lacing
Aroma of dark stone fruits, hedgerow fruits, bit woody, soft spicy fruit hops, soft roast, some rust, some yeast, quite complex. That rusty earthy note takes over.
Taste of dark fruity malts, dark fruits, very soft roast, some earthy hops, dab of liquorice, quite complex, taste much better than nose
Palate - soft carb, medium body, quite rich, smooth, fairly sweet, alcohol well hidden, soft twiggy bitter hops. Finish has some more sweet dark malts, then a bit dry on the tail
Overall - Seems to me to be more of a strong old ale than a barley wine.
