Kauge (1591) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JAN 28, 2016
2014 bottle at Sip in Tallinn; BB 30.09.2016. Pours lightish brown but appears as very dark in the glass, with a ruby hint and surprisingly light, modest head. The aroma is difficult to pinpoint at first, I get notes of roasted malts, dark fruits, earth and fertilizer, and initially a metallic sidenote too... Not too appealing tbh. Tastes along the same lines, starting sugary sweet with a bit of fruity sweetness too, and continuing with earthy dryish bitter. Kinda dirty... Light, slick on the palate. Nearly no carb. Not what I’d consider a barley wine (as indicated not only here, but on the label as well), more like an old or traditional ale.
