Pours a light-hazed, coppery/brown with a creamy, cream-colored head. Mouthwateringly biscuit aroma with honey & rye, Fuggles, pepper and wooden notes. Flavor finds solid bitterness within a mid-bodied texture and a mouthfeel bordering on buttery. Malts add heartiness, but the focus remains on bitters with a peppery finish.

A brew with some very good qualities one would enjoy in a bitter. Pretty good, but just a bit too thin and metallic-tasting to join the ranks of the elite.

From a distinctive shaped 1pt. 9oz. brown bottle with a short blurb about the bitter and a best before date on the back label. Made a good appearance, poured a hazy copper with a nice foamy, bubbly topped pale tannish head that reduced to a sticky thin, bubbly lacing, moderate carbonation. Had a nice aroma, a buttery maltiness with some metallic malt notes, a nutty yeastiness, fruity, with a mild spice and peppery hoppiness. A smooth, semi-creamy medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Had toasted, buttery malty taste, with a pear fruitiness, nutty, a mild hop bitterness and a sweet, bitter finish.

Thanks matta for sending this one. Pours with an enormous head. There is a lot more carbonation in this bitter than expected. Amber hued with a billowing, creamy head. Smells like a bakery. Lots of cookies, muffins, and fresh breads. Very dry, refreshing, and full of bitterness. Decent body. I bet it would be worlds better in a pub somewhere on the English countryside.

Bottle in a Thai curry house - a suprisingly pleasant complement to my light chicken stir fry. Plenty of fragrant hops with a slight citric element but with firmer malt underneath. Lightly sweet leading inoto a rounded finish with slight saltiness. A fairly decent bottled bitter.

1pt9oz bottle. Got it on clearance at Lukas liquors. BB 28 Dec ’04.Served in a NB worthy glass (tulip). Muddy, gold/orange color and a tiny white head that dies down quickly. Aroma is earthy, spicy noble hops and a some brown sugar-like sweetness. The inital taste is green apple, caramel, rye bread followed by an earthy, mildly bitter finish. I don’t care much for the hops, but it is a good example of the style, I could use more bitterness, but then this beer was made to be enjoyed 15-18 months ago.
