The aroma starts very, very strong and fades swiftly. Watery palate and thin flavour. Disappointing.

Almost clear reddish dark straw with a thin head that ends up in a ring. Fresh and spicy aroma of malt and caramel with barely perceptible hops and orange. Pleasant malty flavour with some spiciness and ascertive, yet well balanced with the caramely malt, bitter finish. Medium body with a minor coating of the mouth feel.

Lightly hazy amber color with a tight, off-white head. Definite Goldings hop aroma with some toffee malt (no ale yeast fruit though). Flavor of toffee malt, spicy, earthy hops that have a Goldings signature, and a great balancing bitterness (once again, no ale yeast fruit). Unusual of bitters, but I recommend lying this one down for awhile. When I tried this 6 months ago or so when it first came in, it had a harsh, biscuity, grainy malt character that has mellowed over time. Now, I thought it was exceptional.

Bottle: , short lived off white head on a lightly hazy medium amber body. Aroma is tobaccoey hop and diacetyl at first. Caramel, brown sugar, and Golden Grahams cereal as it warms. Very little fruitiness. Well balanced, dry finish & m/f. Caramel malt with toasty and brown sugar sweetness. Some herbal hop in the finish & definitely in the aftertaste. Medium body, low carb., smooth at first but dry overall. Nice tasty session beer.

Nice color, reasonable head with some lacing. Some hops in the aroma. Not sure how 4.5% classifies as strong. Definitley a bitter though, and quite quaffable.

Pours a four-fingered light tan head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy, amber color. Nose is a malt/hop mix. Light carbonation and light bodied. Starts with a mix of sweetness and hops and has a hoppy overtone for the finish. I was expecting something with a lot of bite but this is really a mellow bitter. $4.29 for a 500ml bottle from Hoosick Street Discount Bev. Troy, NY. Bottle is labeled Suffolk Special Bitter.
