cask-conditioned - handpull: Orange amber. Patchy, off-white foam layer. Leather, dried apricot, and mineral in the aroma bolstered by extremely soft maltiness and light notes of caramel, nuts, and tangy, perfumey hops (most likely Target). Soft, fairly grainy mouthfeel. Grainy malt textures combine with an abundance of spicy, earthy elements. Bushy hops emerge at the center and become full-blown by the finish with lightly roasted nuts and biscuity malts. Remarkably soft malt profile. Mild chalkiness lingers alongside subdued apple fruitiness and tangy, earthy hops. Simplistic, earthy example. This pretty much sums up my aversion toward Target.

4/17/04: Bottle.
Orange-brown body with a thin rim of off-white colored head. Sour nose. Compared to the nose, the taste is surprisingly slightly sweet (some floral and caramel). Malt and hops are blended quite nicely. Pleasant finish which is quite refreshing.
Note to self: very cool bottle with "Adnams" molded into the glass. Interesting label application as well.

Clear, amber-hued appearance, full, fresh, fluffy, 1/2" off-white head. Aroma: soft and creamy, notes of honey and herbs, sweet and full of promise. Taste: mild hops, smooth malt, extra easy on the tongue, a quick trip down the throat. A little more fruit and tingly hops shows up further on, just a touch of bitterness, but mostly it's a mellow affair, creamy and easy to toss back. As bitters go, pretty damn nice, richly flavorful, pretty tasty. Hey, I like it!

Clear, reddish-brown apearance with a large, lasting tan head. Reserved nose of roasted malt. Earthy bitterness develops after a malty, slightly sweet start. Dry, lingering finish with a touch of fruit.

Very bland Bitter... pleasant, but not what you would expect from a British Bitter...

Golden bronze color with light off-white head and some lacing. The aroma is moderately hoppy with some balanced biscuity caramel. The flavor is also balanced with some of the base malts and the initial (but not now) hoppy notes coming through. The finish is nicely acidic with some nuts amd light malts. not too bad, another import, another rating.

Mahogany pour with a large creamy head and sheets of lacing. Wet malt aroma, soft earthy hops. Toasty flavors. A bit more of the earthiness, perhaps wood or nuttiness. Bitter hops come through towards the end. Wet grainy palate, bitter hop finish.
