dnas2 (600), Yelverton, Devon., Devon, England Jul 3, 2009 Cask at King William IV, Histon, Cambs. Red-brown colour, quite a sweet scent, berries and a malty end to the nose. Quite thin. Bitter and very dry. Starts tasting quite watery but then lots of malts, a fruity hops on the end. Boring. weaselkenievil (566), Cheshire, England Jul 3, 2009 Cask at premier inn in Norfolk. Dark orange gold with thin off white head. Little caramel chocolate bar type flavour, slight tobacco roastiness. Bitter hoppy finish. didn’t enjoy it. Kestral (100), Oslo, Norway May 6, 2009 Cask. Pours clear orange, 5mm head. Toffee, bisquit, malts, some faint grass or citrus hops, some funk. Flavour is fruity, rich, round toffee malt, slightly metallic, refreshing fruity hop end. Medium body, smoothly carbonated. DruncanVeasey (2369), The Penguin’s Arms, Warwickshire, England Apr 19, 2009 Cask, Dykes End, Reach, Cambridgeshire. Haloed russet wafting surprisingly with grassy herbal hop. Clean lingering bread and biscuity malts drying with assertive stinging dryness. Lovely softening choc, Nutella and bready notes. Notes mention Uerige; unexpectedly fine bittering hop and bready malt/yeast balance. Dabs of berry fruit, maybe cherry, bags of discreetly herbal English hop. Think I’ve been judging Adnams on their pasteurised bottled efforts, which is harsh. Eye-opener. Gary (294), London, Greater London, England Mar 31, 2009 cask @ the Barmy Arms Twickenham. Not all that enjoyable. Biscuty malt and un floral Hops. I moved on to the London Pride from the tap next to it and that was 100.000 times cooler drinking xperience. PJClarke (494), London, Surrey, England Mar 30, 2009 I grew up with this beer, so may b a little biased ;]
Wholly English in both looks and aromas, most notably of fine set honey. It holds lovely barnyard flavours all the way through with dusty straw and the smell of chickens (in a good way). Smooth and easy-drinking session. KM (206), Tromsø, Norway Feb 18, 2009 Cask. Fluffy white head. Nice amber body. Hoppy aroma, not of the best. Bitter watery flavour. Low carbonation. (The Marquis of Granby, London, 02.12.08)) DSG (1330), Tel Aviv, Israel Jan 30, 2009 (11/25/08) Cask at Heathrow airport in London. Almost clear bronze-amber color with a small white head. Almost rotten vegetable aroma with some yeast and light hoppy notes. Flavor begins sweetish and malty with some bread, toasted notes and a hint of fruit and finishes pleasant and bitter with earthy hops and faint citric notes. Slick mouthfeel, Smells quite bad but tastes nice.
