Cask; Regular. Name changed in early 2006 from "Adnams Bitter". Known before 2000 as "Adnams Southwold Bitter".
Was sold as "George Ale" for the George Inn in Southwark until 2007.
A classic cask bitter: the choice of a growing number of discerning licensees. Fragrant aromas of finest English hops and malt. Dry but refreshing, with a distinctive lingering bitterness. Appetising and delicious. Adnams bitter is a category champion.

Refreshing, but without too much character. A nice hoppy finish, the trade mark of a proper English bitter. Cask at Ye Old Mitre, London.

Cask at the George Inn, London: Pours a clear deep copper bronze with a nicely-lacing white head. Subtle toffee and hop nose. Body starts with some maltiness, thinning toward the semi-bitter, lightly metallic, watery finish. An ok bitter, that has drinkability as its best attribute.

Dark copper colored beer, small, foamy white head, low retention (a good thing). Light alcohol (or perhaps very dry ester) notes in the aroma, some hints of bananas and soft, caramelly malt. Flavor of light cardboard, grainy malt, rather toasty on the finish. Medium body. No diacetyl noticed.

[cask somewhere in London] Barely hazy, medium-dark amber with a frothy, hand pumped head. Foam has a rubbery, shiny look and forms nice lacing. Aroma is fairly weak with some hints of grape and cranberry and a little caramel. Tastes fruity with subtle malt and english hops, but not very much caramel or toffee malt, as expected. There is a sharp bitterness that threatenes to linger, but eventually dissipates to a clean finish and a raisiny walnut aftertaste. Medium body and low carbonation.
