MrAleman (112), guildford, Surrey, England Sep 14, 2008 Wow, what a tasty treat this was, so full of flavour of hops and malt, a great Adnams bitter and i’d recommend it to any bitter fans. turbothy (619), Nørrebronx, Denmark Jul 14, 2004 Extremely drinkable, a very nice beer also when served cold. This is one of my favourite beers ever. The aroma is a bit closed, but the beer looks fine and has the correct (for me) amount of bitterness. mrbasstrombone (8), Netherlands does not count Aug 29, 2007 This bottled beer is great! ! Looked good and with superb hoppy taste. Imagine how good the draught is.... PhillyBeer2112 (1861), Orange Park, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2004 Let me just start by saying I really like the bottle design, and the label shape complements it well. That’s not factored into my rating, but it is an appealing product on the shelf. It probably factored into my decision to buy it. Anyway, it pours an attractive lightly hazy red-tinted amber. The aroma is lively with light fruits, some grassy and peppery hops, also hinting at a smoky tobacco leaf. Palate is medium and very smooth, with fruity malts giving way to earthy and peppery notes. Very smooth, very drinkable, with alot of character. I could drink a ton of this stuff, and would love to just have a cask of it sitting around. urbnhautebourg (934), Annapolis, Maryland, USA May 24, 2004 Updated: Jan 22, 2008Second Sample: Wow. I love this beer. The last sample I had came across as this wild hybrid of Anderson Valley Pale Ale (mainly, the hop component) and Rochefort. The beer is incredibly soft, with this beautiful, restrained malt richness and gentle hop flavor. Absolutely perfect.
Damn, that’s English. The flavors are the usual suspects: butterscotch, dirty English fruitiness, dirty English hops. I am generally bored by beers with that profile, but the balance of this one is simply incredible. An easy session bitter. Actually quite nice, really.
