harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Mar 13, 2004 Pours a bit deeper in color than I expected. Flavor is at first slightly sweet, but becomes extremely bitter in the aftertaste. Nice lingering flavors, nicely dry hopped with a malt backbone that compliments it quite nicely. My only complaint the finish is slighty watery and chalky. Other than that crisp and easy to drink.
MBison (445), Southern Highlands, Australia Dec 1, 2008 Bottle (500ml). Poured amber with a good sized, dense, frothy white head which lasted very well. A earthy/fruity hop aroma with sweet caramel malts, nuts, mandarin, marmalade and light notes of gooseberries. Flavor was a mild earthy hop bitterness with sweet biscuity malts, buttery caramel, tangy orange citrus, light notes of pineapple and a dry/nutty finish. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation, a dry/creamy mouthfeel, watery texture and a decent finish. gam (618), brisbane, Australia Nov 20, 2008 Amber colour beer thin head mild carbonation.Aroma caramel, maltiness, good hoppiness, light fruitiness.Flavour malt, citrus, hoppiness, bitter is strong enough.Fairly typical bitter of this kind, finish, fruity dry, bitter. Nutty and biscuity flavor with fruity esters, almonds and candyish-fruity english hops. Dry minerally and bitter finish. A bit watery palate. Basic bitter. moseslikesbeer (176), conestoga, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 20, 2008 bottle. Looks like iced tea. Cloudy gold/light brown in color.Smells of light spice and fruit. Aroma very much reminiscent of other English ESB’s I have had. Very flat mouth feel. A little bit of hops in the taste but not much. Very heavy on the yeast. Very dry and not really satisfying. Doesn’t even remind me of alcohol. Kind of tastes like a cider. MiP (6337), Flensburg, Germany Sep 21, 2008 Bottle at EBF08. Weak fruity aroma. Clear dark amber colour. The flavour is spicy from the hops. Thin to medium mouthfeel.
