2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Marko (3110) - Split, - SEP 6, 2011
Can, Konzum, Zagreb. Well, that’s funny, Laško doesn’t usually do a grapefruit radler, but they do it for a Croatian supermarket chain.... Anyway, poured a hazy-misty yellow body with a small head that vanished quickly. Nice soft grapefruit aroma. Taste... sweetish grapefruit ending stale, somewhere between quinine and ash. Not bad, drinkable, but Union’s still the only one doing a really tasty grapefruit radler on the market right now.

Canned 500ml. -from local Konzum supermarket. Hazy yellow coloured, small white head, tart grapefruit in the nose. Sweet and light perfumed grapefruity and mild peppery taste with sweetish finish. Ok radler.

.5l can from ’Heavy’. Tart grapefruit and grape juice up front, over a pale pina-colada white body, tight head. interesting presentation of a weird beer. Aroma is definitely grapefruit but it has the sour-funk of artificial grape (my hated) in there too. Balanced out it is alright, refreshing enough I suppose. Spritely, touch sweet and you get some of that minor alc coming through. I’d like to have this around if nothing else. Robust notes, assertive which is nice for this style.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2011 0.5 l can. Poured hazy pale yellow body with medium sized head. Grapefruit aroma, grapefruit flavor, only slightly sweet, especially in the finish, where hints of some artificial notes are felt. Nice "real" grapefruit peel bitterness in the end as well. Lower carbonation which only adds to drinkability. Quite good for a supermarket radler, seeming quite natural.
