HAHA thought i heard this was a good one , opened it, than saw the scores.. Anyway, pours dark red/ brown , white very small fast fading foam. No scent at all.. Too much carbo to me ( a little) . Taste is weak but not that bad. Very comparable to rodenbach , but even less taste ..

Flesje thuis met familie gedronken. Aroma is matig zuur. Smaak is licht bitter, beetje caramelachtig en toch een beetje sprankelend. Nasmaak is een beetje bitter maar ebt snel weg.

Brown to dark brown colored, medium to small beige head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, some dark fruits, maybe a touch of wood. Taste is medium sweet caramel and toffee, bit dark fruits, and some low bitterness, sweet sugary finish and aftertaste. Light to medium bodied, quite watery texture, average carbonation. Not really a sour...

Pours a dark murky reddish brown. Slight malty smell. Taste isn’t sour enough for me.

Bottle 25cl, kindly shared by Dominique. A clear amber beer with low head. Nose is very low, just caramel notes. Aroma is on caramel too, candy sugar and cassonade notes. Light belgian yeast, low and boring.

beige head fades without lacing. brown colour. aroma is metallic, caramel, malt, pils. taste like aroma with a wry and astringent aftertaste. rather thin body, quite carbonated. no cherry, no vinegar, no glue, a sweet caramelized pils, but not an oud bruin!bottle 25cl / bbf oct-2015

Plums, coca-cola, dried apple, moderate acidity, small bitterness like clove. It also tastes like sprite or 7up.

Roman’s most traditional ’oud bruin’, launched in 2005 to replace their ’obsolete’ Roman Oudenaards Bruin; a deep burgundy, clear beer with thinnish, pale beige head and sweet taste with hints of candi sugar and banana, over a caramelly malt sweetness, thinnish body, soft sweetish finish with low hop profile. I think most of the low ratings here come from people confusing the soft and sweet ’Oudenaardse’ version of "oud bruin" with the tart red version in the Rodenbach style; as far as the Oudenaarde part of the style is concerned, this is perfectly true to the style, albeit a little too much on the bland side, perhaps.

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2015 Bottle from Wine of Galilee in Tallinn. Pours dark coppery brown with a mahogany hue. Head light beige, small. Nose kind of indistinctly fruity, putrid red berries and apples, malty, dank sourness. Taste is plain bad... grainy malts, rust, putrid apples, light caramelly sweetness, whereas the sourness is not much pronounced... aftertaste is just awful... metallic, medicinal dryness, woody... Palate near sticky, carbonation average, body light.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2014 01/11/2014 from tap @ Koppenberg Cross. Ruby-brown colour with small fast dissapearing head. Smell : malty, some coffee. Taste is malty, caramel, light coffee, light bitternes. Had it at it’s best, perfect on occasions like this : in a tent at a sports event. Compared to other (old) brown of the same region it could be called rather weak, but is should be compared with "Dubbel" and than you can say it has a lot of taste for that alcohol volume when it’s at it’s best. I’ve had it a bit too sweet at other times
