FlacoAlto (2146), Tucson, Arizona, USA Mar 17, 2007 Sampled at Lucky Baldwins, February 2007
The beer sits in my glass a dark, slightly purplish, clear, burnt amber color. It is topped by a thin tan colored head that one would expect from draught beer. The aroma is fruit focused with a sort of earthy spice character: I get notes of reminds me of a mix of clove, coriander, raisins and prunes. There is a lot of malt character here as well in the form of caramel malt character.
The taste is sweet and fruity up front with quite noticeable notes of prune, raisins and figs. There is a spicy character here that is a combination of both the carbonation and a light spice / higher alcohol derived piquant character. This beer is a bit too simplistic to be great, it is very drinkable though. This really seems to satisfy a sweet tooth without being too rich or sticky.
