Nix "Dark Gold", sondern mittel- bis dunkelbraun, reichlich Schaum. Hefig-würziges Aroma, leicht säuerlich nach Sekt, etwas nach Trockenobst. Brotig, Karamellmalzig, leicht spritig, prickelnd-säuerlicher, minimal bitter werdender Nachgeschmack. Insgesamt mehr Schein als Sein, ein Belgier ohne echte Vorzüge!

17/XI/13 - 33cl bottle @ Horeca Expo (Gent) - BB: n/a (2013-1081) Thanks to Jean-Paul for the beer!

Clear red brown beer, aery yellow to beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: caramel, bit fruity, green apples, little sourish. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: caramel, bit of chocolate, mocha, some dried fruits, little sourish. Aftertaste: bit of liquorish, chocolate, sour touch, bitter hops, green apples. Not as good as I remembered.

Pours a light reddish brown with thin head. Nice heady aroma with dried fruits predominant. Thinner texture than normal and a very effervescent carbonation. Taste the dried fruits, cherries mostly, light caramel and then a little sourness, but not overdone. Refreshing and light for the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Jonb5 (360) - Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 24, 2013
330ml bottle, poured into Kasteel chalice. A: Very dark mahogany, opaque, large tanned rocky head, lots of lacing, top marks, can’t be improved on. S: Usual fudge, molasses and brown sugar expected from a BSDA, but also had and malt and hop content associated with a good Franconian doppelbock. T: Fudge, dark chocolate, cranberry, finish long, malty with some bitterness all balanced out by a surprising hop content. M: Smooth, creamy texture, light body, minimal carbonation. O: Great look, lots of layers, easy on the palate, ticks a lot of boxes.

beige head with big bubbles that burst open and fades immediately without lacing. redbrown clear colour. aroma of madeira, porto, caramel sweet, malt. taste like aroma aftertaste sweet. thin watery mouthfeel, thin body, almost no more carbonation. not a big fan of a fresh bottle and doesn’t improve at all with age, just portorised and bland. bottle 75 cl / bbf 2009

Brune classique, pétillance moyenne, mousse beige crémeuse. Malts caramel rôtis, métal en entrée, notes de réglisse et de fruits foncés, sucre candi, bon équilibre, chaleur d’alcool sur la fin. Pas mal...
