This from a bottle of about 9 months ago. Served at about 50 degrees F. Poured with a very fizzy, light brown head that quickly subsided to almost zero and no lace. Color is a cloudy amber brown. Aroma is malt, caramel, dark ripe fruits, yeast, a bit of toffee. Flavor’s exactly the same. Body is ok and carbonation is just sufficient to counter the background sweetness. Finish is like flavor but painted on a canvas of sweetness which impressions are of medium length. Not bad, not great. I suspect I didn’t store this optimaly.

Poured from 330 ml bottle. Clear, sparkling, orange-red brown with an enormous head if cream-colored, creamy foam that settles slowly to leave very nice lacing. Aroma of dark bread malt, yeast, toffee, honey, grape, plum and raisin. Taste of sweet dark malt, molasses, toffee, prunes, red wine grapes, tropical fruit and a touch of clove. Sweet, fruity and malty, but with enough complexity to keep your interest. Medium/full body and medium carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of cereal and milk chocolate, light to moderate herbs and cooked orange for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with hints of raisin, port wine and cola. Head is large, fizzy, light brown, with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is clear dark mahogany. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and bitter and moderately acidic. Palate is medium, oily with a fizzy carbonation. A nice malt presence with good hop and yeast aromas makes this a pretty good Belgian Strong Ale.

Pour is ruddy brown with a big bubbled light tan head that evaporated pretty quickly...smell is spicy and herbal with cloves, pepper, anise, tobacco and leather...taste is lightly sweet up front with that sweetness immediately fading into a thing herbal trainwreck of vegetables, cardboard, and sticky sweetness...finish is herbal and sticky and VERY cloying....

Nix "Dark Gold", sondern mittel- bis dunkelbraun, reichlich Schaum. Hefig-würziges Aroma, leicht säuerlich nach Sekt, etwas nach Trockenobst. Brotig, Karamellmalzig, leicht spritig, prickelnd-säuerlicher, minimal bitter werdender Nachgeschmack. Insgesamt mehr Schein als Sein, ein Belgier ohne echte Vorzüge!

750 ml. Deep amber/brown body, hazy. Frothy off-white head that slowly reduced to frizzy pools. The aroma is malty with notes of biscuit, lilac, caramel, toasted grain, floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. The floral background delivers bitterness throughout. But it’s not enough to balance the sweetness which tastes artificial. It seems this beer wants to be more delicate than it is or can be because of the sweetness. On the other hand, there is lots going on in this beer including some interesting tastes plum, lilac, floral hops and apple.

Darker orange color, fairly clear, large head, pretty good lace/retention. Aroma of yeast, caramel, bread, light spice. Medium bodied, moderate to low sweetness.
