Bottled. A brown beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma is very sweet with strong notes of Belgian yeast as well as lighter notes of brown sugar, slightly rotten fruit, and prunes. The flavor is sweet with sweet with strong notes of metal, Belgian yeast, prunes, over ripe fruits, and brown sugar. The alcohol is evident on the tongue.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep orange with a slowly diminishing off-white head. Roasted malt and somewhat phenolic aroma. Sweet, fruity, slight metallic and roasted malty. Lsting sweet and malty impression. Nice and easy Belgian brew. Crisp carbonation mouthfeel. Lasting sweet flavour and reappearing fruity and phenolic from the back of the nose.

Bottled (from thebelgianbeershop.com). Murky ambery brown colour with mediumsized beige head. Some lace. Aroma is caramel malts, some alcohol, mild herbal notes as well as some yeast. Flavour is caramel malts, some yeast, fudge, mild herbal notes as well as some slight alcoholic burning notes. As it warms up it gets some rubbery/metalliclike notes. I prefered this one a bit colder.

Dark brown color; big head. Big aroma, caramel, more fruity than most Belgian beers, candi sugar, a touch of honey, very good. It has a sweetish caramel flavor, some honey is the only degree of complexity; light fruitness. Unfortunately the mouthfeel becomes drier at the end, even a bit metallic. Quite good.

Bottle, De Gouden Leeuw, St Lievens Esse. Somewhat yeasty flavor with chocolate, caramel and a hint of tartness. Fairly alcoholic. Served very cold, so the aroma was not very pronounced. Powerful dark ale.

A Mes rate. Draught at Brugge fest. Mid brown with a good white head. A bit on the bland side all round really. Faint spice, some soy and dried fruit. Very slight roasted malt in the finish. Dull.
