While for the classic "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier" traditionally beech has been - and still is - used, the malt for "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is kilned with Oak wood. The resulting Schlenkerla Oak Smoke Malt has a smoother and more multi layered smoky note than the intensely aromatic Beech Smoke Malt. The hence complex smokiness in the "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is paired with the multifaceted bitterness of finest Hallertau aroma hops. With 8% alcohol and amber color it matures for months in the deep brewery cellars underneath Bamberg into a special treat for smoke beer lovers. www.Smokebeer.com

Bottle (500 ml). Almost clear copper with a medium diminishing off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is gently smoked with wooden notes, caramel, nice fruitiness, breadied malt and noble hops. Taste is moderately smokey with a lot of oak, breadied malt, caramel and light fruitiness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Smooth but long lasting smokey finish. Light alcohol warming. The smoke is present like in every beer from Schlenkerla, but it fits surprinsingly well with the Dopplebock style. Complex. Really good balance. Well executed.

Draft. Clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma is bacon, smoke and light oak. Taste follows pretty closely and has plenty of umami and some gentle underlying fruitiness. Smooth mouthfeel with little carb. Good.

A beautiful honey-colored like beer met a somewhat yellow, firm layer of foam. It has the typical aroma of smoked ingredients. It tastes somewhat sweet and the alcohol is very present, and the smoked taste remains in the background. Perfectly balanced. The somewhat sweet aftertaste doesn’t last very long.

BOTTLE 50CL from Erzengel. BB June 2013 - sampled June 2014. Look; hazy ruby-brown with an ivory creamy head. Aroma: smoky but not bacon, some spice, olives?, some malt sweetness and breadiness in the background, Later on, you some floral hops too. Taste: smoky, green fruit acidity/funk - is it spoiled?, light bitterness <P>Look like I had a bad bottle.

Bottled, 500ml at Schlenkerla in Bamberg. Dark amber with off white head. There is a deep smokiness to this, smoky bacon with a hint of smoked paprika, smooth and luscious, silky and full of flavour. The alcohol fills the palate, the apricot fruitiness adds character. Lovely.

500ml brown bottle. Golden pour, a good finger’s worth of clingy white head in the glass. Smoke and light meat in the aroma. In the mouth the beer opens with smoke, ash, meaty notes. Some later grain notes caramel and light alcohol come later. Lovely.

Bottle. Aroma caramel, honeyish, in addition to the classic smoke. Light plum. Absolutely clear amber colour. Taste is very clean. Honeyish maltiness with some serious smoke. Strong, harmonic, showcasing all the crucial elements. Very very good.

Flasa. Tmava jantarova farba, kremova pena, rychlo upadla. Vona sladka, karamelova, udena. V chuti slad, jemne med, ovocne tony a hlavne udeniny. Telom je pivo velmi svieze, pitelne a najma vzhladom na udenost prekvapivo pitne. Moooozem to.
