While for the classic "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier" traditionally beech has been - and still is - used, the malt for "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is kilned with Oak wood. The resulting Schlenkerla Oak Smoke Malt has a smoother and more multi layered smoky note than the intensely aromatic Beech Smoke Malt. The hence complex smokiness in the "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is paired with the multifaceted bitterness of finest Hallertau aroma hops. With 8% alcohol and amber color it matures for months in the deep brewery cellars underneath Bamberg into a special treat for smoke beer lovers. www.Smokebeer.com

500 ml Bottle - shared with buds at Aaron’s German brew tasting last night.. Pours a cloudy deep brown with a thick beige head. Nose is all bacon and smoked malts. Yummy smoked meat flavors with a lingering smokiness that lasts and lasts. This is one nice beer.

Pours transparent copper with a small white head. Nose is burnt hot dog with a hint of candy sugar. Grease from a French fryer. Taste is smoky, sweet with a small bitter finish. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy in the front with a sharp bite at the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

smoked blue cheese and ham. Rich body smooth mellow compared to their other beers. A bit of oak, cream cheese and cured ham. Lovely easy drinking sipper.

500ml Bottle - Amber with a slight haze and a foamy head. Dried apricot, smoked ham, ash and malt in the aroma. Smoky taste with notes of dried fruit, malt and smoked malt. There’s a lot going on here, but it’s still rather accessible and not too overwhelming.

Aroma is outrageously smoky, color is clear ruby red... Flavor is mildly sweet initially of caramel malts and slightly watery.... Finish is entirely smoky bitterness, slightly less flavorful and complex than I expected after having the Rauchebier, still pretty solid...

0.5L bottle, enjoyed @Amundsen, Oslo. Misty reddish-brown body. Low greyish blond head leaving fine laces. Sweet, refined bready malts to the nose. A touch of ash and meat, too. Prononced smoke and burnt wood tones in the flavor. Nicely balanced by a clean and rounded malt-sweetness. Pepper and mild bitterness underneath. Balanced and easy on the palate. An utterly complex beer with the smoke character very well integrated. Lovely!

Bottle. Dark brown beer with low carbonation. Good smoke aroma, and good smoke flavor. Some caramel, and malt. This is a great beer, but the palate is thinner, and the smoke flavor and aroma is less intense than the standard bock.
