COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While for the classic "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier" traditionally beech has been - and still is - used, the malt for "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is kilned with Oak wood. The resulting Schlenkerla Oak Smoke Malt has a smoother and more multi layered smoky note than the intensely aromatic Beech Smoke Malt. The hence complex smokiness in the "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is paired with the multifaceted bitterness of finest Hallertau aroma hops. With 8% alcohol and amber color it matures for months in the deep brewery cellars underneath Bamberg into a special treat for smoke beer lovers. www.Smokebeer.com

Didn’t like this one as much as the Urbock. It had very similar tasting notes, but the drawback to this one was that the mouth-feel was kind of thin and lacking compared to the Urbock. This is just a preference of mine. See my review of that beer for more info.

Pour from 500 ml bottle, best before July 2015. clear, medium orange-amber with small head that quickly fades. lots of sediment. medium creamy body, average carbonation. smokey woody aroma, malty sweetness with light-medium bitterness and acrid smoke on the finish. Very nice winter sipper.

Coppery color with a white head with short to medium duration. Aroma has notes of smokiness, light caramel and wood. Flavor is slightly sweet, smoky, caramel, toasted malts with floral notes. Caramelish notes in the final with light smokiness. Very enjoyable.

Kolor bursztynowy, idealnie klarowne. Piana niezbyt obfita, szybko opada do cieniutkiej obraczki. W aromacie srednio intensywna wedzonka w wydaniu ogniskowym, troche karmelu, chleba, owocow, alkoholu i... ziemia, cale worki ziemi do kwiatow. W odczuciu pelne, oleiste, gladkie. W smaku wedzonki nie ma prawie wcale, jest za to sporo ziemi i calkiem sporo goryczki, ale generalnie niewiele sie dzieje.

500 ml bottle. Pours a hazy, reddish brown with a large, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Smoked malt aroma with wood and caramel. Sweet flavour of caramel with smoked malt and wood, leading to a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Nicely done and well balanced.

Smoke is the main player here, like with pretty much all of Aecht Schlenkerla beers. Good mix of sweet malts to compliment the smoke. This was another treat from this brewer. Not getting much of the hops. Good beer and somewhat original.

Røget blød øl. Den minder om en wiskey, men er ikke med skarp eftersmag. Ikke for alle, da den er røget.

Bottle from McHugh’s in Dublin. As soon as you open the bottle the smokiness hits you but its not unpleasant. There’s a real oaky smokiness with this and cured bacon but also fairly sweet with dark malt and dark fruit but with a smoothish mouthfeel. For me the "smoky bacon" is just a little too much but nice all the same.
