COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While for the classic "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier" traditionally beech has been - and still is - used, the malt for "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is kilned with Oak wood. The resulting Schlenkerla Oak Smoke Malt has a smoother and more multi layered smoky note than the intensely aromatic Beech Smoke Malt. The hence complex smokiness in the "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is paired with the multifaceted bitterness of finest Hallertau aroma hops. With 8% alcohol and amber color it matures for months in the deep brewery cellars underneath Bamberg into a special treat for smoke beer lovers. www.Smokebeer.com

Can’t get enough of this fantastic smoked doppelbock. Pillowy head. Huge nose. The perfect taste of smoke and sweet deep malts. Rauchbier is an acquired taste for most. Once you acquire it you’ll feel like you’re in a secret club. Schlenkerla makes rich and profound beers. They are among the best. I drink this beer in 500 mL usually three at a time. It’s fantastic.

Bottle thnx to sam . Pours clear , dark amber . No real head . Smell is smoked . Good carbo . Taste is smoked in a subtle yet clear way . Pure smokyness , but elegant . I can not enjoy this , but this is one of the first smokeds i can drink ( a bit ) . Some connection is made with smoked cheese i had a couple of weeks ago ..

It tastes like a smoky doppelbock. The smoke is not overwhelming, but it is strong. I enjoy the mix of flavors. Very bitter finish--I think it’s from the hops, not the smoked malt.

The aroma of smoke (bacon) drifts up a medium amber pour wih with ivory head and no lacing. The taste is smoky with flora hints and toasted malts. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Overall, this is very tasty and not as smoky as some other Aecht brews. It is my favorite so far.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Copper coloured with sweet red fruit and currant flavours, strong smoked beechwood notes and a roasted finish.

Bottle. Medium amberish copper color with a small head. Really nice smoked flavor better than most smoked beers. Taste is wonderfully smooth and mild but still great smoked flavor

Appearance: Clear deep nutty color with an off white head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Bacon, oak and smoked aroma.
Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and a moderat bitterness. Soft to average carbonation.
Taste: Mild smoked and some ham, bacon, oak and a fine malty background.
Overall impression: Decent smoked beer.

Deep gold pour with very little head, light carbonation. Aroma - smoke, more smoke, more wood fire than meaty. Taste - slightly sweet, toffee, smoky - this is more a bacony smoke than in the aroma. Nice, very different, quite enjoying it on a winter night

A nice smoked beer, not as intense as other beers. Pours a very nice deep orange, with very little head. Smells and tastes of oak and BBQ. Had on tap at The Ginger Man in NYC.
