While for the classic "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier" traditionally beech has been - and still is - used, the malt for "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is kilned with Oak wood. The resulting Schlenkerla Oak Smoke Malt has a smoother and more multi layered smoky note than the intensely aromatic Beech Smoke Malt. The hence complex smokiness in the "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is paired with the multifaceted bitterness of finest Hallertau aroma hops. With 8% alcohol and amber color it matures for months in the deep brewery cellars underneath Bamberg into a special treat for smoke beer lovers. www.Smokebeer.com

What an excellent smoke aroma as well as even MORE intense smoke flavor! Moderately malty and no bitterness. The only real campfire beer I've had. I'd like to see it aged in High West Campfire Whisky barrels.

500mL bottle, pours a hazy dark golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma brings out a lovely smoky ash pit - typical for Aecht Schlenkerla smoke beers. Flavour isn’t as smoky as expected, with loads of caramel malt upfront, followed by ashy smoke, and smoked meat. Full-bodied, chewy and meaty, with moderate sweetness. Classic smoked doppelbock - doesn’t get much better than this.

Bottle. Murky brown pour with light white head. Aroma, wow, bacon, smoke, ash, smells like smokey beef jerky. Taste is light malty sweetness, followed by smoke, ash, finishes with more smoke, mouthfeel and carbonation are medium. This is great, really smokey aroma and the flavour combination of a smoked beer combined with the malty sweetness that you would expect from a bock works really together.

Tap. Sheffield Tap. Copper colour. Bit of haze. Thin, off white, sticky head. Savoury smokiness, like Kempke bacon, or smoked sausage. Some woodiness in there. Some ripe orange fruitiness, too. Taste is fairly sweet. Savoury dry. Hint of bitterness at the end levels things up. Smooth palate, but prickly carbonation helps in this not being too chewy. Finishes smoky sweet, with a dry, gentle bitter close. Super drinkable. Feels nothing like 8%. Lovely.

Bottle poured a hazy orange-brown hue w/ a one finger fizzy beige head fully diminishing. Moderate sweet smokey aroma. Initial flavor is bold sweet w/ a mild bitter finish. Tastes are brown sugar, smoke, and light toast. Full bodied and balanced mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle - I enjoyed this one from the "rauchbier" perspective and not the "dopplebock" because there were little to no dopplebock characteristics that I could detect under the onslaught of wonderful smoke. Liquid smoke/campfire aroma, thin scant white head on the pour with a dominant smokey flavor of smoked meat with an odd green peppery hint. Finish has a medium-sweetness to it which helps. Not nearly has flavorful as the Urbock. Still, quite good.

Vörösesbarna szín. Illata: Mint a kamra, amiben füstölt árukat tartanak disznóvágás után. Habja egyáltalán nincs. Izében is jelen van a füstösség a maláta édessége mellett.

Deep amber pour. Aromas of maple smoked bacon, light roast. Flavour is nicely smokey with toffee and caramel malts. Really nice.

Robe orangée, limpide, carbo moyenne, petit collet. Aromes fumé, bois, caramel. Saveurs douce, le fumé est relativement discret bien contrebalancé par le sucre caramel.

Aroma is deep smoke, highly roasted malts, caramel and brown sugar. Taste is rich sweet malts with a oak sweetness and light well balanced hoppiness that finishes pretty smoothly. Appearance is a clear gold /amber with a pearl white head that retains fairly poorly.
