The Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer is an unfiltered smokebeer, brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Bottom-fermenting yeast gives the reddish brown lentbeer a natural cloudiness. Its smokey aroma is already noticeable in the smell, combined with a fine hoppy note. In the drink the fullbodied, highly drinkable lentbeer shows its strong malty flavour, rounded up with the smokey taste and a light bitterness. Due to the nourishing yeast, the Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer has the "Brotzeit already included" (German word for afternoon snack). Served / Sold: - Only during lent from Ash Wednesday to Easter - Only from the wooden keg at the Schlenkerla Data: Original Gravity: 14.5% Alcohol: 5.5% EBU: 32

Bottle: The aroma is heavy smoked ham and bacon...and it’s awesome! Maybe there is some faint caramel there too, but the smoked meat absolutely dominates. It pours a dark mostly transparent brownish-orange with a two finger beige head that fades to a thick film. There is a good amount of soapy webbing and rings left of the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of light-moderate caramel and maple. The finish has moderate smoked maple glazed ham, light bacon, and very faint campfire. It’s medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, this is the best Smoked beer I’ve ever had.

Pullo @ Alko. Kaatuu lasiin mahinginruskeana ja kirkkaana, muhkealla kolmen sormen paksuisella vaahdolla. Tuoksussa vahvimpana on Schlenkerlan tuttua savukinkkua, jonka lisänä on yrttinen mausteisuus ja pureskeltava viljaisuus. Jopa lievää mentholmaisuutta on havaittavissa. Savuoluiden aatelia.

Bottle shared with All my vinyl thanks to Ash. For the purpose of introducing the uninitiated to smoky bacon like brews this is clearly as pronounced as you can get without potentially putting them off for life. Looks good; dark dark amber with a good head. Smoky malty aromas, smoky malty brown sugar rounded sweetness. Easy drinking. Arguably one of the most balanced smoked beers out there - not too little ( only in name smokiness, as in many gimmick beers) , and not too much. They got it spot-on with this one. A 4d smoked beer. Totally Gallus !

These Aecht beers are always very smoke but their smoke always has a huge palate. While it’s not exactly my thing, this is very complex. Light bitter smoke finish. Pours maroon. Tap at Churchkey.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - deep amber with a red chink and a nice lacy head. Nose - a mixture of stewed apples and smoke. Taste - more of the same. Complex and balanced. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet dry smoky texture and a long balanced dry finish. Overall - my favourite from Schlenkerla. Plenty of fruitiness which holds the smokiness in balance.

Deep mahogany with ruby, light brown big frothy head, sticky lacing. Looks good. Pure delicate smoky aroma, bit tar and salt, malty, lightly bitter, salty licorice, nice. Medium to full body, long smoky finish, dry and medium roasted, not burned, carbonation balances. Excellent smokiness, tasty, looks great, good stuff!
