3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught @ Gastropub Tuulensuu. Rated on 12.04.2010
Aroma is smoky with tar notes, some grainy malt and woody notes. Flavour is rather smoky with tar, some licorice, hints of salt and distant woody notes. Also some grainy malt occurs at the end of the glass. Good, something between Märzen and Urbock.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
On tap at Max’s Taphouse in Baltimore. Served in a pint glass.
Cloudy dark brown body with a wonderful rocky head and excellent head retention.
Aroma has tons of smoke, bacon, along with some dark fruit. Smells a lot like a campfire.
Lots of smoke on the taste with cooked meat. There is also a pleasant fruityness reminiscent of figs and raisins. Definitely some bacon. There is a little tartness but it is not over the top. Mouthfeel is full with a slightly sticky finish.
Probably the best rauchbier I have every had. The smoke is extremely intense and over the top but yet there are numerous other subtle flavors that manage to come through. I’m extremely fortunate to have tasted this beer and I really hope I find it again sometime.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Ughhh, my god this tastes terrible, but I guess I have to give it an honest review for the style. Aroma: Smoked meat, Appearance: normal appearance, dark with a strong head. Taste: absolutely awful, like I’m drinking smoked meats with dirty cigarettes stuffed in. Palate: Don’t care. Overall it’s an impressive smoked, but frankly smoked usually sucks, so take it as you will.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Remek darab, remélem a legközelebbi szezonban is lesz pár hordó!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Novare Res, Portland ME in April 2010. Took a long time to pour - the bar tender was struggling with the head / carbonation level. Dark brown. Fluffy beige head. Seemed a little less bacon character in the aroma than the normal Schlenkerla although it may been muted by being served rather cold. Still plenty of smoke on the palate. Very drinkable and surprisingly refreshing.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smells and tastes like bacon, which is impressive, but not enjoyable for me. It’s really smoke all over, too much for me.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Location/Date:Draft at Smoke & Barrel on August 14th, 2012.
Appearance: Pours a dark cloudy brown.
Aroma: Aroma is of smoke and bacon.
Taste: Nice amount of medium bitterness, smoke, faint bacon.
Palate:Medium body, quick finish.
Summary: I know this was the highest active smoke beer on Ratebeer, but I never imagined I’d like this so much. I don’t even like real smoke, yet this was really really tasty. Would love to have again.

On tap at Milltown a while back. Nice job getting this gem in, Ethan! Terrific velvety dark copper beer, with a massive silky head. Nose is straight bacon, son! Taste is, while still powerfully rauchy, even more complex, with modest notes of fruit, yeast, and caramel giving shape to the smoke and in turn being held together by that common, intense ingredient. A real treat, loved it.
