Draft from wooden cask at Lagerhaus (Palm Harbor, FL). It pours a slightly cloudy auburn color with a billowy foamed tan head. The smoked malt is immediately noticeable in the aroma, but upon first sip it completely engulfs you, in a good way. This is truly a delicious beer. Glad I was able to finally find and try this one given the extremely small window of opportunity.

Draft at Churchkey. Dark brown with small beige head. Tons of smoke, malt, and wood. The quintessential beer for the style. Great.

"Has somehow popped up twice in Reno on tap in the last month. Won’t miss it this time. Beautiful mahogany red pour, firm head. Aroma of restrained smoke and sweet Brady malts with just a hint of hops. Misty wood and malt. Same in the flavor. Waaaay to easy to drink, smoke isn’t over powering but obvious. Plays nice with the malty backbone with no trace of alcohol. Smooth with a thin finish. Definitely worth a shot. "

Deep plum color with a fairly white head. Aroma of awesome white oak smoke. Smooth palate almost creamy but not because there’s enough carbonation to avoid that abomination. Only during whatever.. I’m drinking this in June.

Keg at Marciero. Never thought I would get to drink my #1 wanted beer in Osaka! Deep dark brown with reddish orange tints, low fine head quickly gets lacy. Great nose: smoke, bacon, caramel, some chocolate, orange. Amazingly drinkable beer, rather sweet but no where near cloying, medium smoke (less than their Marzen), caramel, chocolate, light hops with orange and grass. Prefect body, light but full and smooth and low carbonation. Wonderful beer, the best I have had from them.

Draught sample at Fermentoren in Copenhagen. Pours brown with a huge head, aroma is smoked with wood, vanilla , cheese and floral tones, flavor of smoked cheese, smoked fish, vanilla, cheese, sweet and pleasant, medium bodied.

On tap at Fermentoren. Clear brown with beige head. Aroma is smokey, pork, nuts and earth with a balanced smokiness. Taste is similar; smoke, caramel, earth and nicely balanced smoke notes.

Dark clear brown with milky off white head. Aroma and taste of toast, smoke, caramel, and wheat. Light-medium body and light carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a creamy long lasting off-white head. Campfire aroma. Overpowering smoke flavor with notes of bacon and a hint of caramel. Has a sweet malty finish with long lasting smoke aftertaste.

Draft. Cola colored with ruby tints and a big tan head. Aroma is bacon, campfire and a hint of dark fruit. Taste adds some banana/bubblegum and char. Light sticky mouthfeel. Great.

4oz pour at Churchkey comes a clear, caramel brown with some cloudy, beige head. Nose is meaty, smoked pork bones, wet acorns, some roasted squash, earthy. Flavors are the same, sundried corn, acorn, Jamon Iberico, caramel, a little roasted parsnip. Mostly clean, mildly meaty finish. Solid.
