On tap at The Trappist. Pours murky golden with a small off-whote head and a marvelous zin aroma. There is a smoky light malt flavor with a distinct wine finish.

Tap. Pours clear Amber, almost no head. Aroma is smoky, tart cherry, funk, rubber. Flavor is about the same, vinous, a bit rubbery. Medium body, some zesty bitterness.

Glass at Beermongers. Pours a cloudy copper color with a medium white head. A big smoky and woody nose, vinous. The flavor is super complex, really two beers, but it works: smoky, sweet malty flavors, sweet almost sticky white wine. Unusual mix but damn nice.

Tap @ The BeerMongers... Poured hazy, amber/orange with a thin, off-white head. Vinous, sweet candied grapes with mild smoke on the nose. Good amount of wine-soaked oak, wood chips with some nice charred malts, campfire smoked grains and some sweetness. Pretty awesome and super complex. I’m in love with this stuff.

Draft at The Birch. Hazy amber with a short white head. Aroma is smoky with grape skins, wine notes, fruit and funky notes. Taste is smoked malt with strong wine notes, wet wood, funky notes and fruit. Body is medium with a soft carbonation and dry finish. Ends with more smoked malt abundant wine notes, wet wood and fruit.

Draft at Ginger Man. Pours gold with a white head. Smoked malts and wheat up front, some faint woody and light tartness coming through in the middle, and lingering barrel notes and smoke. Faint fruitiness throughout. Really an odd one. I feel stupid trying to describe it because I know it’s not really capturing how unique this beer is. It seems like it should be a mess, but it’s balanced throughout, and the flavors really end up working together.

Tap at Ginger Man. Amber/ruddy pour. The nose is really unusual. Beech smoke and red wine aroma. A bit of soft tartness and some fairly pronounced vineous sweetness. Some astringent tannic barrel flavour and a bit of white pepper as well. Really lovely and unique. The smoke seems to work with the barrel notes in a much more integrated fashion than I would have expected. Some leathery notes on the back as well. Bears very little resemblance to the original product.

Tap at Cannibal. Crazy brew so much tastes to decipher. Pours orange with brownish tinge. Nose is smoke and wine residue. At first you get that Schlenkerla bacon campfire smoke but then its lots of jammy zinfadel really coming through and soften the harshness of original brew. There is also some other red fruits, hops bitterness and hay. But mostly your bowled over by Zin and Ham in a delicious way
