rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Mar 24, 2008 Average good lager aroma with the usual amount of yeast and a slight amount of roastedness. Hazy golden color with not much white foam. Mild beginning with a yeast and very tangy finish. Light body. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia Mar 16, 2008 Pours a golden-brown, with a cottony white head. smells like lager, a little richer than average. Taste is bold for a lager, with a little banana and spicy hops. Dry ending, tingles tongue. Its subtle, the difference between this beer and other lagers, say Heineken. But its good in every way. drewbeerme (2223), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 15, 2008 500ml bottle. pours clear golden with small white head that didn’t last too long. light smokey and grainy aroma. flavor is grainy biscuity and lightly smoked. thin and watery body. sessionable but not smokey enough. i didn’t think i’d ever say that about a schlenkerla beer. renffisch (500), london, Greater London, England Mar 11, 2008 500ml bottle at home. Except the fact that this beer tastes of rotten smoked cheese to me, nothing to complain, and with a big chunky smoked applewood doorstopper probably bliss :-) it pours an innocently golden straw colour with a big bubbly head. light smoky notes in the nose, which will hit you hard when you taste it. for a rauchbier too yoghurty. but hey it is extremly well made and even i have to honour that. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Mar 8, 2008 500ml bottle. Pours a light yellow straw colour with a big white head. Aroma of lager malt with a light smokiness. Taste-wise, it’s a case of your usual malt and hops meet smoky bacon for a party! The creamy mouthfeel helps the flavour linger and adds to the ’snack in a glass’ feel, but it’s not that heavy. Overall, nice for fans of smoked beers. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Mar 3, 2008 A lightly hazed pale golden beer with a thick frothy white head. Aroma is faintly doughy and fruity, with light smokiness. In mouth, a nice light sweet malt, like freshly mashed grains, with pleasant smoky notes, light crisp German hopping and light body. Bottle bought last May 2007 at Spirit Haus, Amherst, MA, 3.80$US. faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Feb 14, 2008 Bottle. Pours a slightly pale golden colour with a big well lasting white head. Aroma of grains, some malt and cow stable. The flavour is smoky with cow stable, malt, bitter hops and a soft sweetness. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Feb 13, 2008 Bottle at the Manchester Winter Ales Beer Festial. Slight smokey aftertaste, very drinkable. Reading a few rates and there is talk of bacon, so that’s what it was! I did miss a meal drinking this I think, that must be why. Is there a better drunken food than bacon on waburtons? No, there is not. I did enjoy it a lot.
