Boutip (2333), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jan 2, 2008 Bottle: Poured clear golden yellow color lager with a medium white foamy head with average retention and limited lacing. Aroma of floral malt with some sweetness also noticeable. Taste is a mix between some floral malt with some sweet notes but I could not distinguish any some at all. Body is quite full and slightly oily with some medium carbonation. Interesting but not really smokey. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Dec 29, 2007 Bottled (BB 01/2008)
Very pale color, small white head. Sweet maize-kind of aroma, very tiny smokey feeling there. Light grassy hoppyness, metallic malty flavor. Smoke in the aftertaste. Heller-Trum has better products than this, looks overrated. oh6gdx (8798), Vasa, Finland Dec 29, 2007 Bottled. Yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is mild smoke, maize and diacetyl. Flavour is diacetyl diacetyl, maize and some mild hoppyness. Mild smoke as it gets a bit warmer. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Dec 26, 2007 14 Dec 07. 500ml bottle, blue & white bavarian flag label. Pours clear, 24K golden yellow. White very rocky head. A very light, almost undectable aroma of smoked malts. Flavor of smoke. But very light. Clean, crisp malt body. Very balanced. Earthy finish, with nice hop bitterness. Definately an unique brew. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Dec 23, 2007 500 ml bottle. I knew I tasted smoke on this beer. I thought I was crazy. Aromas were sweet malty, leaning toward pilsner. Flavor was crisp with some citrus notes and touches of smoke. Not bad. Interesting take on a helles. rederic (1787), montréal, Quebec, Canada Dec 19, 2007 Bright yellow gold color, with an off-white head, with a wet earthy, grainy pale malt nose, with a faint smokey note, with a hint of honeyed malt in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a crisp, sweet honeyed pale malt, a bit corny also, with a mild smokey character, with a faint flowery hop note, with a subtle peppery spiciness, leading towards a shy smokey, lingering hop bittering finish. (Rating #1377) FastEddie (178), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Dec 4, 2007 A smallish head. Faint generally lagerish aroma. Cloudy, pale golden color. Just a hint of smoke, even though this is not actually a Rauchbier. Strong hops flavor for a lager and this is it’s strongest point.
