Pours bright yellow with a very thin white head. Lager breadiness and biscuit on the tongue with the smoke taking a back seat. Medium bodied with a dry smoky finish. coldbrewky (718), Saugerties, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 14, 2007 Updated: Oct 15, 2007Pours a most beautiful gold with a nice flyffy white head that settles moderatly to a thin film of carbonation. Legs begin then as small mountains of foam sitting on the beer. Steady sparkling carbonation. Dry leaf nose is reminiscent of walking thru woods. The smokiness begins lightly and elevates to a medium smokiness that is expertly mingled wh the malt and light hops. Body is med and last a good while. Moves into hop smoke finish that is also extended. A tuly enjoyable brew that was a pleasant find at Half Time in Pogh. NY. A trip to bamber has just been put on the radar. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 11, 2007 A delicate, clear golden lager... well it’s a Helles alright, covered by a healthy, lasting white foam. Clean and incredibly smoked for a beer with no bamberg malt. Delicate and flowery, woody. Soft and rather round in the palate, yet cleansed by a firm carbonation. I must say that the smokiness is its dominant feature really, but this is exactly what I wanted when opening it and was thus highly satisfied. Hugely drinkable. Minimal grassy hops procure a dryness that balances out the soft pils malts. mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Very nice beer. Lighter then the other smoked beers I have had, it still had that mice BBQ flavor. Jukkabro (3005), Tampere, Finland
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Golden colored, little white head. Dominating smoke in sweet aroma, some fruits and cardboard also here, misses some character with this smoke. Medium bodied. Flavor is also dominated by smoke, same cardboard and mild fruits here too. Aftertaste dries strongly. Good one, still expected more out of this. glkaiser (1164), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Straw gold with then head. Subtle smoke aroma. Taste is of smoke, but is much lighter than the Marzen etc....Sharp bitterness to finish. This is right up my alley....just about the perfect mixture of a lager and smoke flavor. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 21, 2007 Bottle. Small rocky white head that mostly diminished. Clear sparkling body with a golden color. Fair display of lacework. Aroma of grain, hay, cookie and light underlying notes of smoke. Over the palate the smoked notes becomes more evident. As does some grassy notes as well giving it somewhat of a light dry texture. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Well balanced light bitter flavor and light sweet notes. Light dry and bitter smoky finish. Quit nice and very drinkable. This is a good beginner’s smoked beer I recon. I thought this was a well crafted beer without being spectacular in any way.
