wxman (582), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Sep 4, 2007 Updated: Feb 10, 2009Pours a pale golden with a respectable, although small, white head that coats the glass.. Mild aroma of bread dough and hop flowers. Crisp clean refreshing pilsener style German beer; perfect blend of sweet malts, mild hop bitterness and an interesting smokiness. More in the Czech style than the more hoppy and ubiquitous northern German pils. This is very good and loyal to the style, in spite of the smoke. Perfect summer beer! kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Helles Lagerbier

pale yellow, nice light smoked aroma, light malt with great smoked flavor, light bitterness, it’s all about the great smoked flavor but it’s not too big to be overwhelming

merlin48 (509), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Aug 23, 2007 Clear straw hued body with a small and fleeting white head. Aroma of spicy hops, subtle smoke, and sweetish malt. The smoke is picked up more in the taste, but is still quite restrained compared to the brewery’s other offerings. Very well balanced and extremely drinkable. The smoke is more of an aftertaste than an intrusion. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Aug 18, 2007 Poured a very clear straw color with very little head that disappears quickly. Aroma is slightly smoky with a faint hint of spice. Palate was thicker than expected for a 4.3% lager. Smokiness is up front with a nice grainy taste and a heavy finish. This was pretty refereshing and the smokiness was pleasant and not overwhelming. I’ll drink the second half of the bottle with a steak. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 18, 2007 Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverages, 500 ml bottle. Murky medium gold pour, kind of lifeless, light white head. Aroma of a freshly open can of sardines - not much else - stays potent throughout. Flavor has a strong smoky, sweet, chewy flavor that is not meant for the uninhibited or unaware. Pick up a hint of miso soup as well - odd, yes. Mouthfeel is thick enough. Not an everday beer and not meant for a hot day. Like all the other smoked beers from this brewer - difficult to tell which style this beer was originally before if got smoked. downender (2537), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Aug 18, 2007 Bottle. Pale gold with a moderate white head. Aroma of sweet malt and floral hops with a hint of smoke. Flavour started sweet before smokiness kicked in. The finish was pleasantly bitter. Unusual. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Aug 17, 2007 Cask, GBBF 2007. Golden with an off-white head. Aromas are caramel malts with good smoky notes and some metal. Flavours are hay and caramel with crisp soft citrus. Some toast. Floral with some soapiness. Smoky and sweet. BT (85), Newtown, Connecticut, USA Aug 15, 2007 A yellow beer with a slightly smoked aroma and flavor; nothing special here.
