4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle from BG Birra, served in a goblet glass. Beautiful rich gold, perfectly clear, with a creamy, persistent bright white head. Looks gorgeous. On the nose bready malts, light yeast, mild herbal hoppyness, a hint of wet cardboard in the far background. So smooth and clean in the mouth, much more bitter than expected upfront, but then an almost light sugary sweetness follows. Solid malty base, pleasent herbal hoppy punch, and just a tiny smokey/ashy sensation in the aftertaste, mainly coating the lips. Ridicously drinkable. Average to lively carbonation, medum body, slightly creamy texture. Stunning.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
bottle, 05lt. Found at Valentin - Curious Biekneipe, Volos.
The aroma is classic malty Lager, with a small hint of smoky.
The same goes for the looks, deep golden with white foam.
The taste ist just great, you got a classic Helles Lager with the smoky feeling existing but just adding taste without to get the main star.
A good carbonation and medium body, maybe a bit oily, with a overall very nice taste that explode the "simple" blond Lager into extraordinary.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle. Clear, brass-golden colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Grassy, woody, minimally smoky aroma, hints of peppercress, green pepper and dietary salami. Taste is dry, husky, minimally grainy, smoky leavings, grassy hoppy overtones, a mineral touch, very subtle pale malt sweetness; a greasy ’Salame Milano’ layer remains on the lips. Even Schlenkerla’s "dishwater" is better than almost any other Helles.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle from beermerchants.com. Pours a helles gold with medium white head. Taste has a light smokiness behind a decent helles character, just enough in fact without being dominating. A pleasant smoky lager.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
0,5 l bottle from Schlenkerla webshop, best before end 6/2015. Clear, pale golden yellow with a medium large, fluffy, slowly collapsing, white head. Subtle smokey aroma of smoked ham and campfire with lager-like notes of grass, sweetish malts and butter. Sweetish taste of smoked ham, cereals and butter with a short, slightly bitter and grassy finish. Thin body, fresh mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very tasty and sessionable helles with a gentle smokey note that therefore stands out in this style. Good!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
A: Surprisingly pale yellow gold with an inch of tight bubbly foam which stayed together for several minutes, never dissipating completely. Ample carbonation rising and attractive lacing as drunk.
S: Herbal hop scent with almost no maltiness and just the slightest hint of smoke. Very subtle though the very cold temp. may be stifling the aroma.
T: Oh yeah, there’s the smoke!. Tastes like a very nice though typical pils or helles with sharp sour bread notes and mild hoppy flavors on the short dry finish. Crisp and refreshing. Very nice! Bonus: doesn’t taste like someone dropped a fucking cigarette in it (looking at you. Marzen).
M: Nothing outstanding but very pleasant. Light body with a fairly strong tingle from the tireless bubbles. Finishes very clean leaving a hint of smoke at the back of your mouth.
O: I really like this quite a bit more than the Marzen which is the only other Aecht Schlenkerla offering I’ve had. I guess it’s hard to get the smoke level exactly right but this is it at least in my opinion.. At $6/imp. pint, I’ll forgo the Marzen but will definitely have this again from time to time. The stories are true, this is great stuff. Awesome experience!

Pale golden with a white smallish head. Aroma is malty with some hops and smoke. Taste is mild but pleasantly crispy with notes of hops and grass. Finishes with lingering smokiness. A tasty brew. (0,5l bottle, bb 07/2015)
