COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Daten:
Stammwürze 11,7%
Alkohol 4,5%
Bittere 30

Ausschank:
Im Brauereiausschank vom Holzfass ab 1. Juni bis Ende August. Export in die USA.

English Translation:
"Kräusen" describes the bubbles that form during the fermentation of green (young) beer. The addition of a small amount of such green beer to an already mature beer is called "Kräusening". Kräusening adds the full flavor maturity of the stored beer to the liveliness of the green beer that is added.

Schlenkerla Kräusen is an amber, unfiltered lager with a slight smoky taste. It ripens in the deep tunnels under Bamberg until just before adding the classic Schlenkerla smoked beer. Tasty and not too much alcohol, it is the perfect refreshment for a warm season.
Data:
Original gravity 11.7%
Alcohol 4.5%
Bitter 30

Serving:
In the brewery from the keg from 1 June to late August. Exports to the United States.

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 24 July 2013) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, slightly smoky nose with dried fruit, apricots, toast, dark bread and gentle smoke aromas. Malty, fruity taste with notes of rye bread, toast, a light smokiness and a gentle spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. The gentle smoke character makes it very tasty and highly drinkable. Quite nice.

Some hops and a grassy bitterness. Very nicely balanced beer with a subtle yet distinct smokey note. High drinkabillity.

On tap @ In de Wilderman. Pours clear chestnut with an off-white head. Aroma of smoked Bacon with a taste to match. I admit this is over rated, but I just love this beer

Tap @ In de Wildeman, large sample. Clear golden to amber color, medium head. Aroma is lightly smoked (at least for this brewery), some earthy hop, hint of sulphur. Soft bitter taste, again some smoke, bit dry. Crisp. Easy to drink, but for me it could have had a bit more of the wonderful smokey flavors Schlenkerla is known for.

Sampled on tap @ In De Wildeman, courtesy of the one and only Simon! Amber color, slightly hazy. Firm, off white head. Aroma’s: smoked malts (or fish, anyway: smoked), with some malty sweetness. Flavor is lightly sweet, smoky. Light bodied. Finishes with some malt/grain and a light bitterness. Nice, light & refreshing.
