What a perfect rauchbier, smells and taste like heaven. Brown beer with medium carbonation, mild smokey aroma and flavor. It is a crispy malty caramel, lager. For those like me who loves real bbq, this is perfect, 100% in the style.

Coś wspaniałego. Intensywny smak wędzonki nie wpływa na pijalność - wchodzi lekko i przyjemnie. Co więcej - ani trochę się nie nudzi.

Wowww! S P E T T A C O L A R E!

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2007 Holy crap, this is one goooood friggin’ brew. A backyard bbq in a bottle. Liquid smoke in a glass. Oh, Lord, please deliver another to me! This is the second best beer I have ever had, hands down. I must have another! A perfect balance of smoke, hops, malt, smoke, hops, malt, and more smoke make this a MUST TRY!

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2012 Nose is smoke, brown sugar, rich clean malt. Deep ruby with a light tan head. Flavor is Smoke, honey, rich malt, caramel, light ash, solid but not overwhelming hop bitterness. Lingering smoke in the finish, honey, caramel. Brilliant. Original rating: 7/3/8/3/16 -- 6/5/05 Thanks to Tim for getting me to jump into smoked beers. Tasted @ Smokeless. Nose is smoke, bacon, fish, woody. Deep ruby body, frothy off-white head. Quite (not overpoweringly) smoky, sweet malt, fish, light iodine. A bit of hop & caramel in the finish. The finish of this leaves me wanting more.. More.. MORE!!!!

I love this great smokey flsvor. Feels like I’m eating and drinking at the same time. If you love BBQ smells and flavors this is the guy for you. Used it to cook ribs and they came out great.

A truly unique beer. Has a wonderful smokey aroma, texture and taste. It goes down bitter, but has a wonderful aftertaste.

Castaño intenso oscuro, aromas ahumadas, trufas, baicon. Sabor balanceado dulce, ácida y un poco salado y muy poco amargo. Retro gusto tostados. Cuando bebes mas desaparece el ahumado y sientes mas las maltas dulces. Muy refrescante y te pide mas. Cuerpo bajo y suave textura.

~1 pint bottle, poured into a nonic pint at ~45 degrees F. Appearance: Pours a deep, clear garnet red, which can but barely be seen through without light on the opposite side of the glass. Forms a couple fingers of slighty-tan head, which dies to a thick ring and cap in short order. Lacing is quite present. Smell: Heady smoke and ash greet the nose straightaway, redolent with the scent of a campsite in the fall. Greasy, charred meat aromas are also present, as if fresh out of 16+ hours in a low-temperature slow smoker. Beneath the wreath of smoke, a blend of honeyed toast and old leather form a solid malt base. Taste: Smoked meat, of the pork belly and coldwater fish variety, fills the mouth from the first sip, wrapped in a fluffy, thick layer of campfire ash. Honey-drenched toast manifests more as the beer moves along, from an underlying support to a full partner with the dense, smoky flavor. Leather, polished wood, savory, faint white pepper, and some dark toffee also appear through the middle. The finish is all sweet toast and smoke, leaving the mouth coated and salivating for some proper barbecue. Mouthfeel: A full-bodied lager indeed. Overall: You may have heard that Schlenkerla beers have a reputation, as rauchbiers go. It is entirely well-deserved.
