Small head settles to a lasting, partial circle of mist. Satisfying aroma of holding a plateful of bacon and molasses next to a campfire. Maybe a hint of wheat also. Wow, flavor is chunky, smoked lean bacon with an occasional nibble of some crisp apple to cleanse the palate. Some earthy-metallic mineral hints also provide some balance from a different direction. Nice drippy lacing on the glass. Medium body seems thin, but this may be a good thing with the strong flavors. Lightly carbonated, yea! Pinball (2718), Allerød, Denmark

Pours a dark red mahogany with no haze or cloudiness. Inch thick, beige, fizzy head that dissipates quickly and leaves a decent amount of lacing. Not the funky look of the Weizen. Aroma is more of a sweet smokiness. Still has a nice bonfire aroma, but not as meaty as the Weizen. More woody. Some deep caramel and nuttiness as well. Flavor is nice, I already know I like this more than the Weizen. Initial roasted bitterness, sweet and deep caramel middle with some molasses too, finishing a bit nutty, smoky, and bitter. Slightly salty and pretty dry, however, much more enjoyable drying finish when comparing to the Weizen. Palate is medium to full and very smooth. Overall, this is a damn good beer. Great complex flavor and extremely well balanced. This is less smoky than the Weizen and actually works much better with the sweet maltiness. Enjoyable bitterness makes it that much better. Very good, hopefully the Marzen is similar to this instead of the Weizen. judasbeer (241), Budapest, Hungary
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 10, 2009 Pleasant smoked aroma. Reminds me the slovakian smoked parenica cheese.
Dark mahogany red color. Dirty brown colored medium sized well lacing head. Well balanced, complex flavor. The roasted, sweet caramel or maybe coffe flavors quickly turns into warming liqueric dryness. Medium to full bodied, decent carbonation, dry salty finish. This one is less smoked in flavor than the other products from this brewery. The malty sweetness and the smoked dryness are brilliantly balanced in this particular brew. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Bottled: Intensive somked aroma, notes of bacon, dark smoked meat and smoked cheese. Some sweet malt aromas. Dark brown color, small creamy, brownish head. Flavor is light sweet, malty with grain notes. Taste as you lick a charcoaled tree limb. Black smoked meat notes. Astringent, bitter and intensive smoked. Very good balanced, few alcohol remarkable. Bitter end with smoke and roasted malt. Very pleasant smoked, give me more of this stuff. liinis (714), Helsinki, Finland
