Beautiful beer. artvandelay (32), Ames, Iowa, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2007 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a dark tan head and some good lacing. The aroma hit me like a ton of bricks before I even poured if from the bottle. Nose is similar to Liquid Smoke. Taste is more balanced with roasted malt dominating. Medium body. Palate is a little rough; sort of like inhaling campfire smoke. Long finish that lingers... for hours. too15hype (4), Clifton, New Jersey, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 19, 2007 This is a TRULY smoked beer. Not for the weak. Great with burgers, meats. HopheadHans (755), Bay Area, California, USA

Aromas of smoke, and campfire. Flavors of smoke, campfire and burnt malts with some grilled meaty notes in it. Hours fater drinking it one still has the smoke on the palate as if one had been smoking a cigarette. Probably still the best Rauchbier when it comes to execution, tap would even be better if I recall correctly from my youth. muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Updated: Aug 10, 2008Bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma is salted meats, campfire, and some maltiness. Flavor is very complex. Smoke almost dominates, but there are enough hops, spicy clove notes, and caramel malts to keep it in check. The finish is sweet, and the smoked meat flavor lingers here. The mouthfeel is very creamy and filling. A winner. Revisited 8-8-08 Same notes as before, but comparing with the Marzen, this has much more meat. Lots of bacon, ridiculous bacon, and a little less campfire. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 25, 2007 Nice large brown head atop a clear, bubbly brown brew. A bit reddish when held to the light. Pleasent, strong smoked aroma, reminds me of sitting next to the fire at camp. Strong smoked molasses flavor, great malt upfront complimented by a subtle but noticable bitterness. Small warmth in the chest. Good.
