Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Mar 4, 2007 Brown/black with a creamy head The aroma has lots of smoke just like the Märzen from Heller. The mouthfeel is smooth and a bit oily. The flavour has a lot of smoke, eel skin, light sweetness and caramel. Ok with smoked foods, but I doubt I ever will become a hardcore smoked beer fan, but I think I prefer the Märzen. 1924 faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Feb 26, 2007 Bottle shared with yespr. Deep red-brown colour with a very nice light brown head. Aroma of smoke indeed (oak) with some sweetness. Flavour of smoke with a nice sweetness and bitterness in the finish. Sehr kraftiches und gutes Bier am besten! yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark Feb 24, 2007 66 cL bottle (shared with faroeviking). Dark with ligth brown head. Sweetness and smoke in a nice blend. Soft and well balanced, it doesn’t feel like a bock. Slight bitter sweet finish. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Feb 22, 2007 Bottle. This beer pours with a dark greyish brown color, an off white head, and a strong aroma of smoked ham. The flavor is meaty, thick with a strong bitterness and levels out to a slight sweet smokiness but retains the bitternes through the finish. A sharp initial bite on the palate evens to a smooth creaminess. Pretty good. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Feb 21, 2007 Draught @ Battersea Beer Festival. Smoky aroma with lagery malt component. Fairly sweet but with balancing phenolic hops and a nice dose of earthy hops. Really tasty and drinkable given the strength. islay (470), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 20, 2007 16.9 oz. bottle. The amazing and powerful aroma features smoked ham, fresh pretzels with honey mustard, and lemony hops. It is unusual and welcome but perhaps a tad much. The beer pours a deep, clear copper-brown with a large amount of thick, uneven cream-colored head and extensive lacing. It looks even better than it smells. All of the smoky elements of the aroma are prominent in the flavor. In addition, the flavor features a very nice sweet roasted malt taste. This would be a very tasty beer even without the smoke, but with the smoke it is a uniquely delicious treat. ASRU is medium in body and a little undercarbonated. Not surprisingly, it produces a smoky and malty aftertaste. This is one of the most exceptional, flavorful, impressive, and memorable beers that I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. IPAndy (120), minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 19, 2007 Dark brown with beige head. Smells like smoked sausage. Flavor is more smoked meat, salty, some sweetness. Finish... more meat, but creamy. Theis (3617), Denmark Feb 18, 2007 Bottle at ØLbaren. Dark brown - white head. Salami (Ålerøget Spegepølse), bread, smoke, light sweetness, biscuit, clean flavor - nice german !!
