The smoky taste is here somewhat balanced by the malt and a fair amount of sweetness followed by a moderately bitter finish. Better balanced than the Marzen I thought. Very nice. Drink cold. railcat1 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Dark brown beer. The aroma is complex beachwoodsmoke with malt sneaking up.
In the flavour the smoke is dominating, but the bock sweetness does it’s job leaving a full and balanced finish. It ends sweet and nice with the bitterness coming through. FatPhil (3467), Espoo, Finland

Same smoky aroma shared with the other Schlenkerla rauchbiers but much more full flavoured. Vastly flavoured - so much bock that the smoky, almost tarry, taste does not overpower the tongue. This isn’t just bacon - you can tell it’s been fried in butter - so it must be good for you! MiP (9030), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 4, 2007 Draught from Partyfass. Lovely smoky aroma, salty salami smokiness. Clear, very dark brown colour. Creamy, quite stable, light brown head. Quite sweet flavour with some salami. Low carbonation and a very nice creamy mouthfeel. Yummy. Maria (6167), Thisted, Denmark
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 4, 2007 Brown/black with a creamy head The aroma has lots of smoke just like the Märzen from Heller. The mouthfeel is smooth and a bit oily. The flavour has a lot of smoke, eel skin, light sweetness and caramel. Ok with smoked foods, but I doubt I ever will become a hardcore smoked beer fan, but I think I prefer the Märzen. 1924
