4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
My first smoked beer. This is an amazing dark brown with a nice long lasting head. The aroma and the flavor are totally taken over by the smoke. This not my favorite style, but a nice thing to try and an interesting beer to add to my list.

Strong smoked aroma - nice tones of wood and burnt sugar. Smooth smokiness dominates the flavour on a very malty dackdrop. Can’t wait to try this with grilled meats this summer. Lovely and very, very special.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thin whisp of a head, nut brown ale color. Dark rich flavors help to balance out the smoke. Goes great with roasted or cured meats and nuts. At first you think the smoke is going to be overwhelming but it always seems to be in the background adding to the complexity of the beer. Very well made and very consistant. Something I would think in this style of beer to be very difficult. Though widely available locally a rare beer. Would like to see this in a cork enclosed 750ml for aging.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown beer with a strong, smoked malt aroma; fine tan head with nice lacing; smokey, slightly sweet caramels, and bitter flavor; very rich and present; finish starts smokey sweet and ends with hoppy bitterness. Beautiful beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 11, 2011 500ml = 1pt .09 FL OZ = 16.09 FL OZ = big bottle. It’s a lot of beer. Pours an explosive but fast-dissolving sandy head over an attractive, dark reddish, body that shines around the edges.
Aroma is smoked fish and woody with some pork. It doesn’t get much better.
Taste is similar to the odor but much less so. Salty, light sweetness that vanishes abruptly to a bitter finish. Savor the very good, classic beer taste.
Urbock has a medium to full body, sticky, small bubble carbonation yet lively,
I really enjoy this smokebeer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma of smoke and sausage. Appearance is red-brown with small white head. Taste of smoked sausage, tar and salt. Overall this beer taste a lot like smoke (or only smoke).

I love things smokey, so this is a natural. I only drink one once in a while on special occassions not to ruin the novelty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with a red tint and a large frothy tan head. Aroma is sweet and very smoky, like smoked sausage or beef jerky, with some dark fruits and malts as well. Has an amazing flavor - I can actually taste smoked meat in the finish. There is also an oak taste in the flavor - from the aging in the oakwood cask. Flavor is sweet and slightly bitter, with an excellent malty malasses and caramel notes. It would be better if it were thicker and had more alcohol content. But as is, this is a wonderful beer - makes me want to go out and buy some beef jerky.
