Bottled 2004 version (BB 04/2005)
Nice dark red with foamy and creamy off-white head, lace. Strong smoked ham aroma. Full-bodied, malty and well smoked mouthfeel. Hoppied bitter aftertaste. Pleasant, well-balanced brew.

Pheeuww... well... it pours nicely light brown. Then it assaults you with a smell of smoked fish or sausage. Taste is very smoky at first, then transforms into sweetness. I really don’t like it.

2nd December 2008. Clear dark red brown beer. Very mild cream head. Fresh clean strong malt followed by a smoky finish. Not smoky dry and therefore quite palatable. It also has a toffee fruity undertone. One of the better smoked beers I’ve had.

Copper with a lasting off-white head. Wooden smoke, with bacon notes, and a good caramel maltiness. Sweet and very malty flavour with a very pleasant smoke character, that just lasts

Brown/black with a creamy head The aroma has lots of smoke just like the Märzen from Heller. The mouthfeel is smooth and a bit oily. The flavour has a lot of smoke, eel skin, light sweetness and caramel. Ok with smoked foods, but I doubt I ever will become a hardcore smoked beer fan, but I think I prefer the Märzen. 1924

Cask Stillage at the GBBF, Earl’s Court 06/08/2009 Big smoked aroma. White head. Dark coloured strong in alcohol and a little rich on the palate with a crisp and slightly dry smoky malt finish.
