3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: Smoky, sweet malt with hints of banana, dried apricots and hops. Very well balanced with a delicious smokyness.
Flavour: Smoky and sweet initially and throughout. A grilled flavour takes over after about half a second, although this is mostly taking part in the nose.
There is a pleasant bitterness of hops on a carpet of smooth, but elegant malts. Surprisingly mild however.Slightly sourish and bananlike aftertaste.
Lastly there is a very pleasant taste of smoke left in the mouth, somewhat earthy and coal-like.
Appearance: A very dark, reddish brown body with beige, bubbly head that quickly sets but clings slightly to the glass. It looks quite nice.
Palate: Thin but somewhat oily, feels weaker than it really is.
This beer is really good, but is somewhat lacking in depth and potency – flavourwise.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma is rich malty toasty bready with a pleasant but not overwhelming smokiness. Appearance is chocolate brown clear with small tan head that lingers. Taste is rich toasty smooth sweet malt with pleasant smokiness holding it all up and lingering in the finish. Bit of spiciness from the hops. Palate is medium+, crisp with lingering sweetness keeping the smoke balanced. Somehow manages a pleasant creaminess. Overall an excellent. beer. Without the smoke it is a fine Bock on its own. The smoke adds big depth. The most enjoyable smoked beer I have had.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle. Pours a clear, dark reddish brown with a medium, short lived, beige head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with a nice smoky note. Sweet roasted malt flavour with caramel, oak and a smoky, dry, bitter finish. Full body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Nice and well balanced.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Leichte Süße, dann deutlich bitter, langer Abgang, Holz, etwas Alkohol. Die wichtigste Mahlzeit des Tages.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Smoke upfront. Smoke in the middle. Smoke on the finish. Medium body with lingering singed taste. Better with food (pulled pork) than on its own. Unique, but not for everyday or everyone.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark, brown color ;medium -size , dense , beige head. Aroma of smoked ham hits you from the start, with malty notes on the background. Taste follows the aroma, however , malt is more obvious. I like this strange style , but it is certainly not a everyday beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Butelka 0,5l. Silny aromat wedzonki. Takiej raczej szynkowej. Barwa ciemno brunatna i klarowna.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Dark, smoky, and strong, Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Urbock is one of the purest examples of a Smoked beer in an ever-widening style. Even though I’m new to the style, I’d be surprised if this wasn’t also one of the tastiest. Pouring a deep brown, Rauchbier Urbock has a good head and smell redolent of smoked meat and savory seasonings. Flavor is both malty and meaty. Basically, this beer is a carnivore’s best friend. Salty, smoky beef and pork would be the best matches. Honestly though, I can’t think of any grilled or smoked meat that wouldn’t be fantastic with this.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A- Smoke, woody, bacon, meat.
A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, light brown head.
T- Smoke, bacon, ham.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, meaty finish.
O- Kind of what I was expecting. A ton of smoke and that meaty umami flavor. Like drinking a ham brine but not in a bad way. Certainly an interesting beer and not my favorite but it’s an easy beer to drink.
