(First tapping every first Thursday of October) A smoked bock beer for Bamberg’s strong beer season (October through December). Matured for months in ancient rock-cellars underneath Bamberg and tapped freshly from the oakwood cask. Similar to, but much bigger than the classic Maerzen style.

Aroma: Smoky, sweet malt with hints of banana, dried apricots and hops. Very well balanced with a delicious smokyness.
Flavour: Smoky and sweet initially and throughout. A grilled flavour takes over after about half a second, although this is mostly taking part in the nose. There is a pleasant bitterness of hops on a carpet of smooth, but elegant malts. Surprisingly mild however.Slightly sourish and bananlike aftertaste. Lastly there is a very pleasant taste of smoke left in the mouth, somewhat earthy and coal-like.
Appearance: A very dark, reddish brown body with beige, bubbly head that quickly sets but clings slightly to the glass. It looks quite nice.
Palate: Thin but somewhat oily, feels weaker than it really is. This beer is really good, but is somewhat lacking in depth and potency – flavourwise.

Cristal clear, copper color. Nice but not very persistant head, pretty lacing. In the nose super pleasant wooden, smoky, campfire notes. The aroma is thick, full and rich because of this smoky notes. In taste it’s even a bit better. It’s more intense from the very beggining till the end of the aftertaste. Smoke owns this beer. Typical sweet caramel bock’s notes are almost unnoticable but in the same time they are creating such a good background. I would prefer a bit heavier body, but it’s still super smooth, very pleasant. But it’s definately not a session beer. Rather couch one, for sipping for some time. Awesome beer!

Wyciśnięta resztka beczki, to nieco tłumaczy kompletny brak wysycenia.

Goryczka niska.

500 ml bottle from Mile High Wine & Spirits for $5.49. Deep reddish brown and clear appearance with a tan head. Aroma of smoked malt, oak, light toasted grain and trace hops. Similar flavor, moderately smoky, woody, toasty, moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Somewhat complex once it opens up. Medium body with a nice, soft feel and smooth, creamy finish. Quite a nice beer overall.

Smell of smoke and bacon, pours a clear ruby red, with a thin tan head. There’s a touch of sweetness from the underlying malts, before the smoke comes in. Rich smoke flavor, with flavors reminiscent of a good barbecue. Moderate body, and a nice sipping beer.

Bottle. Cloudy deep brown pour with a light head. Aroma is malty caramel and quite smokey. Taste is also malty and smokey, some caramel and slight bread notes, a touch roasty, clean and balanced finish. Really great smoke beer, love this.

From a bottle in Atlanta. Clear dark brown body with a very good head. Very smooth, near full feel with pepper carbonation. Very smoky aroma and flavor but not quite to the level that would totally mask some dark bread notes. Overall: excellent for style.
