Thanks for the beer skaughty! The last Smoked beer I had was the Alaskan Smoked Porter. Damn that was a good beer. This? Not so much. The beer is a nice dark brown color with a medium beige head and thin lacing. The aroma is equal parts ashtray smoke and Purina Beggin’ Strips. Medium-bodied with a very smoky character, as a matter of fact it dominates everything else in the beer. The finish is more of the same. I think my wife’s question of why I smelled like a cigarette (I don’t smoke) after drinking it about sums it up. It’s just too much.

Sep 4, 2008 V - clear dark brown with a small head and little to zero lace.
A - Similar aroma to that of the marzen, with a highly smoky, sausage aroma.
T - smooth, creamy, malty with smoke aspects.
P - Pretty smooth.

Pours dark brownish, clear with a tan head. Smell is smoky, juicy meat. Taste is surprisingly hoppy for a smoked beer with balanced malt and a slightly overpowering smokiness. Pretty smoky, but not too, too much. Thin mouthfeel that detracts. Too watery. Not bad, but I liked the Marzen quite a bit better.

Sep 2, 2008 Soooooooooo smoky. Aroma of smoky burnt malts, smoked bacon, and lots of plain campfire smoke. A great thick mouthfeel, some amazing maltiness, and it mingles so well with the smoke, man this is really a treat, just seems to be more complete than its cousin the Marzen.

Sep 1, 2008 A rare beer for sure. Its smokey flavor is natural and makes for a great extra to a steak or barbque. Its had to drink many of them and it does not mix well. But a must try for sure.

Aug 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours red brown with a tan head. Smoky and earthy aroma, with burlap and a slightly sweet caramel note. Smooth body. Smokey flavor, with peat, wood, and sweet notes of caramel. Really good, though I like both the Weizen and the Marzen a bit better.
