Appearance :Fine haze of brown bock, purple ruby light trough shown. Neatly contrasting velvety white coat. Nose : Good clean smoky aroma, more on birch wood side than drying cured meat. Sweet brown sugar weaved into it , as it warms up chocolate cake like aromas appear. Flavour/Palate : Medium bodied, meal like flavour. Smoky front with burnt roasted malts at finish. Dark inka coffee with cocoa beans finishing creamy chocolate. Brown malts go superbly with balanced smoky malt. Gentle woody bitter ending. This is benchmark in smoked beer world that other should aspire to.

Full on salami, really smoky, with some light roasted coffee notes, so much flavour and body, without being overly complex, just really well balanced, yum. JPDIPSO (4944), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA

The strong smoke aroma can almost drive you away if you are not ready for it. The sweet malt coupled with the mild smoked flavors blend well witha smooth rich mouth fell. The aroma disipates during the course of imbibing and leads to some nice malt aromas. Brewmaster (168), USA

Dark brown color with slight carbonation and minimal head. This thing reallly taste like smoked turkey neck beer. Beyond the smoke and turkey, I taste a hint of carmel, nuts, and maybe toast, all be it burnt toast. crdic (105), California, USA

It has a big aroma of smoke, burnt bacon, pork, and malts. It has a medium to full body with light carbonation and a smooth palate. The flavors are big and smokey with lots of burnt woodiness, bacon flavors, and a good, fairly sweet maltiness in the background. The finish is long and filled with smoke flavors, but still has that lingering sweetness in the background from the malts. An excellent smoked beer, very delicious and appetizing. A must try. Ruby brown clear beer with small off-white head. Considering the aroma, the smoky taste was quite subdued - nice malty sweetness, like a bock. Light sweet finish and tinge of smokiness that I thought was less pronouced than in the maerzen. Mild-medium carb and light oily body. Very nice rauchbier, but not as smoky as the maerzen. Went great with smoked sausages and ham for dinner.
