Very light lacing. Aroma is smoke. That’s about it. And it’s awesome. Well, flavor is smoke too. Bottled bacon! Gotta love it. What I really like about this beer is the balance. Not overbearing or under whelming. Medium body. One of the best Smoked Lagers I’ve had. Thanks Jason. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA

Smells exactly like some smoked sheep’s cheese I’ve had recently--bacon, sausage, etc. Also some malts, but the smoked aroma is completely dominant. Tastes like frigging sausages. Incredible. Excellent. A great change of pace.

Smells like my back yard when I have my smoker going. Boston Butt anybody? Sweet caramel malts are just along for the ride. It tastes like bacon or sausage. Again, the malt is just kint of hanging out, and there is some bitterness there too. Very easy to drink. If you like the smoke there is nothing offensive here. I’m packing my bags for Bamberg. Surely there is no danger, but this smoky selection certainly is heating up the evening rather well. Pours out a dark brown with an off white head. Smells like a woodburning stove used to cook seasoned pork. Amazing nose to say the least. Taste is both campfire smoke and woodchip burner smoke combined with sweet malts and a light hoppy finish. It is suprisingly drinkable despite the flavors that are present in this brew.Definently not the kind of beer that I would have every day, but certainly a treat to have in the winter months. larsga (3000), Oslo, Norway
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 5, 2008 Thin beige head. Deep dark translucent brown body. Powerful, smoky, earthy, salty aroma with meaty notes, not entirely unlike a smoked salami. Dry smoky earthy taste with caramelly meaty notes, somewhat salty. Wooden, charcoal quality to the smoke taste, which is exceedingly clean and pure. Clean, sharpish mouthfeel. Hints of residual sweetness. Dry, drawn-out aftertaste of smoky, sooty burntness. Gorgeous! (0.5l bottle at Cardinal.) SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 19, 2007 Bottle: Thick, deep brown pour with a frothy tan cap. I get a lot of salty pork and campfire from the nose, with lighter notes of caramel and apple esthers in the background. This certainly isn’t as smokey as the other Aecht beers I’ve tried, but the added balance is welcome. The body is sweet and smokey - complex from start to finish. Lots of vanilla, oak and toffee mix well with a healthy dose of smoldering firewood. Very good rauchbier. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Pours a deep dark clear copper-red, with 2" of light tan foam. The suds recede quickly to a thin cap and ring. It starts out with nice lacing, but tapers off to just a minimal trace. Good smoky malty aroma.
Full smoky flavor up front - with some nice seet caramel behind it. The caramel fades, however, to just smoke until the finish. There is a bit of spicy hops in the finish, and a sweet smoky finish.
Medium bodied, gentle carbonation. AmEricanbrew (2021), Almost, Texas, USA

Smooth and light bodied considering the huge meaty aromas here. Taste is a good mesh of lightly sweet caramel with a big flavor of smoked malt in the middle and on to the finish. A perfect beer if not for the light body.
