The aroma is full of sweet smoke - very smokey and some sweetness (almost like the crust from a smoked honey glazed ham - but with more smoke). The flavor is much maltier than expected - the sweet malts (some caramel, honey) stands up strongly to the immense smoke (which reminds me of some very heavily smoked sausages). Hints of hops in the finish. Mouthfeel is very nice and medium in body.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 8, 2010 Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Dark brown in colour with medium carbonation. Massive woodsmoke on the nose, followed up by some moderately sweet malt notes. There’s an interesting flavor progression with the smoke leading the way, the malts taking over midway, then the smoke returning on the finish. Heavy bodied, with a slightly salty mouthfeel. Great intensity. JohnnyCougar (12), Lakeland, Florida, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Feb 6, 2010 Bottle. Pours transparent mahogany-brown with a thin, tan head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of salty, meaty, roasty malt with little to no hop aroma present. Semi-sweet somewhat chocolate flavored malt with a heavy smoked wood flavor. Just the right amount of hop bitterness coupled with roasty carbon to finish off the taste with wholesome flavor and medium dryness. Not only is this beer unique, but it’s in its own league. Currently my all-time favorite. mickut (56), Espoo, Finland
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2010 Bottle. Pours dark brown red with off-white head. Taste is relatively sweet, with a bit of bitterness and a sweet finish. Palate is full bodied and long. Aromas have roasted malt, smoky wood, caramel. Overall the smokyness covers almost everything, but in a smooth way not astringent. hophead21112 (134), Louisville (LEWISville), Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2010 Clear dark red/brown pour with a creamy light tan head, good retention and lacing. Looks nice! I can already smell the smoke and my nose is about 2 1/2 feet away from the glass. Smells like campfire, bacon and band aid. Tastes like bacon wrapped smoked gouda balanced nicely by a subtle malty sweetness. Medium body, lively carbonation and no alcohol warmth. A delicious beer that is probably better when paired with the right food. Tonkun (60), New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 28, 2010 Bottle. Dark brown pour with white creamy head. Smoke, bacon, band-aid, leather but not overpowering. Complex beer with sweetness, coffee and spice. Nice bitter finish to balance the smoke. hirigalzkar (630), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 28, 2010 Bottle. This beer is obviously dominated by smoke. Although its not as one dimensional as a lot of smoked beers tend to be. This one has got some sweetness, som chocolate and a semi-dry aftertaste with a touch of leather. vtafro (639), , New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2010 Bottle. Brown pour with slight white head. Bacon, smoke, malt, and some alcohol. These beers grow on you and scare a way non beer enthusiasts and vegans at the same time. Would like to see this use as a marinade. JAG55 (29), O’Fallon, Missouri, USA
