4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rated at the Pewaukee Tasting II 5/5/07.
Appearance - Super-clear reddish-brown, big head.
Aroma – Smells like a malty beef jerky, enjoyed simultaneously with a lightly refrigerator-dehydrated landjaeger (hung smoked meat).
Flavor – Gawd, even better than the aroma. Smoked beef jerky and malt, rich, with a solid hang time.
Palate – medium-bodied, but seems so much larger
This one was a real hit with the group!

0,5l fles bij bierkoning vandaan. Donker bruin met een crème kraag. Geur is gerookt vlees of makreel. Smaak suikerstroop met gerookte vlees, afdronk klein beetje as en zelfs een hint van wat hop eindigend in een drop smaak. Erg lekker zeker met Heino op de achtergrond.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not a bad beer, but I do prefer the Marzen style. This has less flavor, less body and definitely less smokiness than then the Marzen.

Pours a dark ruby-brown with a very short, quickly dissipating, light tan head. Smoky and moderately malty nose. Rich and full mouthfeel. Very smoky and bacons flavors. Enough sweetness in the malt to balance the smokiness.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from the Vineyard, Belfast. Looks almost like a stout, but with a thinner head. Aroma is smoked cheese to me, kind of thin taste at the very start then a very full bodied palate of, well, smokiness. An unusual brew, would definitely try again (maybe the Marzen too) but not all of the time...
