4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Well it looks like a barbecue beer in the glass. Deep brown and great head. The nose is a knockout. This is a truly unique beer that has a great depth of character. The smoky flavour in the nose is given another dimension in the taste where the flavour takes over as one of a traditional beer profile. Bitter and significantin the mouthfeel I really do rate this beer highly.

500ml bottle. Clear, ruby red glowing, dark brown colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Intense smoke aroma, notes of ham, smoked eel etc., ashes, campfire. Taste is dry, smoky, moderate subtle sweetness, wood notes, hints of tar. Excellent, as we all know.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one is very similar to the Marzen classic, but I prefer it because it has a more complex taste. While it is still extra smokey I can taste a bit more of the oakwood and it was a bit more smooth. A little less sticky than the Marzen. Good stuff.

Great smokey taste. Appearance is good as well as the nose. There is a good amount of smoke on the nose. Great beer overall.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown with garnet highlights and a large-grained, cream/cinnamon head. Nose is smoked meat/charcuterie, spice, brown sugar, and molasses notes; smells exactly like Klemm’s, a German smokehaus I used to frequent (and love) when I lived in Indianapolis. I miss smoked braunschweiger, with a little hot mustard...anyway. Back to the beer. And rye bread. Real rye bread, not this boring stuff you get...right. Beer. Um. Smoky, smooth, round, substantial -- it would go amazingly with a smoked braunschweiger sandwich. I wonder if Klemm’s delivers? Ships? I wonder if anyone I know back in Indy would ship me some? This is a damned good beer. Where’s the mustard?

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reddish brow clear beer with some blonde head disappearing quite fast leaving a thin layer on the beer. Aroma is just smoked ham. Flavor is also smoked ham but with tarry sugary sweetness. Medium full and slick, quite carbonated. No bitterness but a short nice finish. Confusing for a vegetarian but the tar sweetness reminds me of Terva Leijona pastilles.

Reddish black colour, beige head. Aroma of bacon, wood fire, lots of smoky Bacon. Light sweet flavour, smoke, Schwarzwalder Schinken. Thick, almost oily body. Finish bacon and smoky malts. Nice!
