COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(First tapping every first Thursday of October) A smoked bock beer for Bamberg’s strong beer season (October through December). Matured for months in ancient rock-cellars underneath Bamberg and tapped freshly from the oakwood cask. Similar to, but much bigger than the classic Maerzen style.

Pours a dark murky brown with minimal head, no lacing. Aroma obvious of smoke, caramel malt, and not a whole lot else. Flavor is complex, but just not my style.

Aroma of beef jerky, bacon, roasted cereal grains. Appears clear reddish dark brown, minimal pale caramel foam. Tastes of roasted malted barley, some caramel, sweet and mostly bitter. Overall, great aroma, good.

Bottle. Dark black purple. Thin. Strong woodsmoke/bonfire nose. Tastes of smoke blended with a sweet malt character--almost sugary.

Idealne piwo dla kogoś kto chciałby spróbować piwa wędzonego. Wyznacznik stylu. Dużo kiełbasy.

500 ml bottle. Super gusher - minus one point. Pours a red mahogany with light head and lots of suspended sediment. Strong aromas of smoked bacon. Strong flavors of hickory smoke, sweet malts, liquorice and sweet dark fruit. Balanced for a smoky but overly smoked for something sensible.

Transfer from BA review on 5-25-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a color brownish copper color with some light ruby highlights seen shinning through. Upon pouring there is a two finger tan colored head that has a about a 3 min retention time before fading and leaving some light lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – Big on the smoke and the char with some undertones of brown bread and caramel. There are also aromas of char and some meaty smells mixed within giving it a nice campfire like aroma. Taste – The taste of some darker malts as well as a nice strong smokiness are initially present upfront. Some lighter dark fruit flavors mix with these giving it a moderately taste. The sweetness intensifies a bit as some flavors of caramel come to the tongue. A salty flavor joins the mix more toward the end while the beadier and malty flavors begin to fade. IN the end with the smokiness increasing slightly, a cured but moderately sweet smoked taste is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to just above average side in terms of its thickness with a carbonation level that is overall rather average, both suiting well the blend of smoky and sweet. Overall – Lightly sweetened BBQ taste in a glass here. Roasted, smoked with a bit of char, sweet and delicious.

Aroma is very smokey like a campfire. Hints of hickory, peperoni, light spiciness and rich malts. The taste is rich caramel and almost chewy malts. A well balanced bitterness is found here finishes smoothly. The smokiness definitely lasts to finish but that is a good thing.

WOW!!! The best way of describing this beer for me would be when you are near a bonfire and you smell your cloths when you get home. Amazing smokey smell and flavor with hints of bacon

Clear copper, tan head. Nose is woody, malty, clean, not too heavily smoked. Flavour is more wood, slightly charred but not into rubber territory. I often get toothpaste flavours when drinking these rauchbiers I really should stop brushing my teeth with spent kindling. Yeah the malt and smoke is complimentary. Nice experience.

Bottle. Cola color with a 1 finger khaki head. Aroma is campfire, bacon and burnt sugar. Taste follows but has an underlying banana note. Rich creamy mouthfeel with relatively strong carb. Awesome.

From a bottle at 28 Springs. Pours a rush dark brown with one finger of tan head. Aroma is smokey burnt slight malt. Flavor has caramel and smokey peaty malt. I'm not a fan of the style but this was still nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
