detroitsteel (209), Greater London, England Apr 24, 2008 Hmmmm. Bit of strange one this. My first experience with smoked beers and I feel confused. Its very murkey in the glass, but keeps a small foamy head to the end. The smokey aroma hits you instantly and has bags of punch. I found the flavour to close to those processed Austrian cheeses you get in little orange sausages. I realise there are no artificial flavours in the beer, but it tastes that way. Almost too smokey in a smokey bacon crisps kind of way. I’ll have to try others to fully compare.
joeyplush (76), Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 29, 2008 Excellent balance of smoke and weissbier flavors. Aroma and flavor remind of smoked sausage/cheese. Outstanding beer. goozen (812), Leiden, Netherlands Nov 29, 2008 Bottle 0,5ltr: This fine speciality from Franconia an Weizen brewed with the smoked version style. Hazy amber colour an smokey start and a woody taste. mjs (646), Helsinki, Finland Nov 28, 2008 (Bottle at One Pint Pub, Helsinki, on 2008-11-14) Brown colour with hint of red. Cloudy. Dene largish white head. Smoke, tar, hint of fruitness in nose. Full bodied palate with medium carbonation. Smoke, salty liquorice, smoked ham, banana, bitterness and yeast in taste. Smoky and yeasty aftertaste. Firemoose15 (497), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 28, 2008 Bottle of course. Poured a brown cola like color with a strange bubbly head. Flavor was interesting smokey malts and light hops. Palate was thin yet filling enjoyable. MMM smoked beer. Ober (525), Best, Netherlands Nov 21, 2008 A clear dark amber colored beer, with a thick beige head. The aroma of smoked meat, with malt anf fruits. The taste has some bitterness, smoked malts, with hops. There are fruits, like banana. The aftertaste is a little bitter. An unusual beer.
