COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schlenkerla Smokebeer Wheat is an ale with light smoky aroma. As Bavarian wheat beers, it is being brewed with a mixture of both barley malt and wheat malt. The portion of barley malt is hereby a classic Schlenkerla smokemalt, while the wheat malt remains unsmoked. Served unfiltered with its natural haziness, Schlenkerla Wheat reaches its full aroma through bottle fermentation with fine top fermenting yeast.

500ml bottle. Pours a hazy red-brown with a sizeable head that seems to last forever. Some faint herb notes mingle with strong smoked bacon and Lapsang Souchong tea on the nose. It is smooth and sweet to begin, with a hint of banana coming in, before being replaced by a potent mix of spicy bitterness and slightly harsh smoke. There is a hint of the typical sweet weizen finish, but made a bit less sweet and a bit more complex by the strong smoke. The aftertaste is an unusual mix of weizen banana and smoke. Interesting, and quite good.

Bottle @Fermenteam tasting! Thanks to Lukas&Alex! Pours a hazy, Dark brown with a medium sized, off White head. Aroma is really smokey with some fruity notes. Banana, peat, leathery dry, smokey wood. Taste is not as all so smokey, but has sweet wheat fruity notes. Slight caramel, slight leather. A treat indeed! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Old rating. Don't like this one as much as the other Aecht beers. Thinner. Still has nice rich ham and campfire profile but the wheat body doesn't hold up as well. Still tasty.

Bottle->lager. Murky chestnut brown with big frothy offwhite head. Ugly. A: smoke, wheat, grains, earth. T: same, with a lingering smoky aftertaste. Not as deep as Schlenkerla’s other rauchbiers.

Pours dark dirty brown with a small beige head. Aroma is smoked meats and small campfire ash. Taste is as well smokey campfire ash, small meats and wheat chewiness.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a murky copper/brown with modest-sized, lasting eggshell-coloured head. Aroma is gentle smokiness, banana, tree fruit, wheat and light spice. Flavour is pleasantly smoky with wheat, some banana, a little plum and mild spice. Fine carbonation gives a nice texture. Nice one.

Pours a clear copper with a small white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of smoke, slight umami and light bananas. Taste is moderately sweet and carries flavors of bananas again and smoke. A little less smoke than on the nose, though. Body is medium, carbonation high and mouthfeel slightly silky. Overall a really nice smoked beer, never too much.

What a nice summer beer! Sure it has a whack of smoke to it, in a good way if one has some tolerance. But the round wheat ale base is completely different from the Märzen we’ve solely had at the LCBO for 500 years, and drinking this cellar temperature from a Fullers Pint glass I would say this has a cask ale like texture. The fruity tones are a welcome contrast. Just cool but not too cold!

Bottle Pours hazy dark brown with a fluffy White head. Lots of smoky wood in this, air dried ham and bacon... Like schwarzwalder ham.. And it tastes just like it. Salty, smoky and ham... So good!

LCBO bottle. Nose is mostly smoke with whiffs of wheat malt coming out from behind the smoke, herbs, fruit, spice. The taste is a similar blend of smoked and wheat malt. I like that I can pick out the flavours. The first few sips and sniffs were almost unbearably smoky, but as my palate adjusted I picked up the nuances and by the end I thought it was rather mild. Good stuff.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2015 Bottle. Pours unclear hazy brown with slight frothy off white head. Aroma fruity yeast, slight banana, wheat, smoke, smoky wood, some bacon and oak. Only slight spices, salty meat. Taste is medium sweet, yeast, smoke, smoked meat. Finish is really smoky, salty cured meat. Slight dry finish. Long smoky finish bit thin body for a weizen, but nice smoke!
