COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schlenkerla Smokebeer Wheat is an ale with light smoky aroma. As Bavarian wheat beers, it is being brewed with a mixture of both barley malt and wheat malt. The portion of barley malt is hereby a classic Schlenkerla smokemalt, while the wheat malt remains unsmoked. Served unfiltered with its natural haziness, Schlenkerla Wheat reaches its full aroma through bottle fermentation with fine top fermenting yeast.

Smells of, what else, smoke. Real smoky saltiness happening here, reminds of dutch smoked sausage (rookworst). First taste - good mouthfeel, tiny bubbles. First you get malt, than some sweetness and than bitterness and smoke come through. The smokiness is (to me) much less in your mouth than in the smell. All in all, great experience. I was looking for a Bock but the shop had the weizen only, and the smokiness combiness much better than I hoped. One of those beers you must have tried once!

Aromas of bacon, campfire, cedar, and mild berries. Hazy orange-brown with a small, mostly fading, white head. Dry, floral, earthy, smokey, and savory. Light-medium bodied with good carbonation, smooth, and finishes clean.

Their Marzen gets the extra tenth point. I really don’t know why, because this is just as beautiful. Maybe because I am partial to Marzens. Good God the Germans know how to brew. Too bad they had to water down their beers for the philistines when they emigrated to other counties.

Bitter with some roasted nute. Raisins palate with delicate sour nute and hoppy bitterness. You can feel alcohol. White and thick head, stays form more than 3 minutes. Browny colour, hazy. A really good choice!

The colour of muddy water. And that weight too kinda... fizzy carbonation. couldn’t smell much to remark upon. flavour was slightly sour and dank. I like it!

Pours a cloudy brown with orange highlights. Big tan head. Smell is wheat, yeast, mild smoke, some clove and fruity sweetness. Taste is yeast, roasted malt, mild smoke, little peppery, clove. A touch watery in the middle. Carbonation is active and a bit biting. Body is light. Not my favorite weizen.

Head: medium, tan, creamy. Colour: brown and hazy. Aroma: not surprisingly - smoke and wheat. Taste: slightly smoky, wheat, but also sweetish, some clove. A bizarre combination - not my... mug of beer.
