COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schlenkerla Smokebeer Wheat is an ale with light smoky aroma. As Bavarian wheat beers, it is being brewed with a mixture of both barley malt and wheat malt. The portion of barley malt is hereby a classic Schlenkerla smokemalt, while the wheat malt remains unsmoked. Served unfiltered with its natural haziness, Schlenkerla Wheat reaches its full aroma through bottle fermentation with fine top fermenting yeast.

Bottle 50 cl. An amber coloured turbid beer with a firm foamy, creamy head on top that pusshes itself as a toer above the glass. The aroma is smoky and clovy but also fresh. The taste is smoky, woody ang has in the background the typical Weizen taste (but no bananas). The aftertaste is quite tickling on the tongue and is a little smoky. Good beer for a bbq.

Bottle (500ml). Unfiltered hazy bronze beer with a dense creamy white head. Smoked bacon dominates the nose but is nicely attenuated by usual wheat beer elements (bananas, bread, cloves). Palate is smooth and medium bodied with the smoke being much more subtle than the equivalent Marzen which was too overpowering for me. Dryish finish with lingering smoke.

On tap. Some smoke, some yeast aroma. Beautiful dark brown color. Slightly sour and bitter. Very nice smoky mouthfeel with a medium carbonation. Overall a nice smoked Weizen.

Bottle. Hardwood smoked meat aroma. Brown with a moderate beige head. Smoky wheat malt flavor with a light bitterness in the finish. Light body, lively carbonation. Very enjoyable, not overwhelmingly smoky.

Bottle. Medium dark brown with big foamy head that dissipates slowly but doesn’t have much lacing. Smells smoked- on par with smoked gouda. It always reminds me of meat- like good hard sausages- and good company. Light smoked flavor, not sweet, not bitter. Fairly light bodied- perhaps a touch watery. Not overly carbonated. I like smoked beer in general. I remember the first time I had one. It was before I was as beer-savvy and I picked it because I’d never heard of smoked beer. While not my favorite style in the universe I have enjoyed it when I have had occasion to drink it.

From the bottle poured a brown brew with a rich light brown head. Nasty aromas and flavors of smoke and malt. It reminds me of campfire in a can. Medium bodied and nasty. Sorry, I don’t like smoke beer.

Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brown with an attractive beige head and a smoky treacle aroma. There is a lightly smoked wheat flavor with a carbonated finish. Very drinkable since the smoke is not overwhelming.

Un pò più corposa della classica Marzen dello stesso birrificio. Ha un attacco dolciastro e frumentoso, sulla punta della lingua, all’inizio, per poi virare ai classici canoni affumicati del birrificio. Particolarissima.
