Tap at T & P Tavern. Pours a very murky brown maroon color with a light ring of white head. Aroma is fruity, yeast, clove and spice. Flavor is fruity and dry, wood, yeast and a touch of spice.

Pours a golden amber with creamy looking white head. Aroma is nutty smoke. Taste is medium smoke and light sweet nut.

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2013 Rating: 2/5 = Not best of breed, but I would drink this again. - Aggressive Pour - Ivory, almost dirty white foam with tons of bubbles both large and small. Minimal lacing and alcohol legs. Aroma is quite malty with some light smoke, almost liquid smoke. Unlike the campfire aroma of the Urbock. Palate is light in body. Liquid is dark red, reminds me of Dr. Pepper. Not too much complexity in the flavor profile on the first tips, but a notable light smoke character. Middle of the mouth is some more malt and yeast / bread notes. Light smoke and very light carbonation persists. Finish is moderately long lasting with more of the smoke characters like campfire and smoked cheese persisting. Again, I love smoked beers, and while this is good, I much prefer the more "in your face" smack of the urbock. Wouldja - True Maybe

Bottle at Schlenkerla, Bamberg, Germany. A hazy amber coloured pour with a healthy white head on top. Smokey, malty aroma. Tastes smokey, malty, wheaty. Well balanced and complex. Very good indeed.

Bottle at home. Has a hazy dark orange colour with a light beige medium head. Sweet aroma of smoked and cured meat, banana and some spices. The flavour is also pretty sweet and meaty. More like dried meat. I also find some leather, wood and some fruits in the back. Has a slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. Has a nice and smokey aroma but the flavour disappoints a bit and is pretty sweet and light, and lacks enough smoke.

Birra affumicata, si riesce a distinguere la base weizen solo per il dolce iniziale poi prevale il fumo...ottima con cibi affumicati o con salumi e formaggi.

Aromas of bacon, campfire, cedar, and mild berries. Hazy orange-brown with a small, mostly fading, white head. Dry, floral, earthy, smokey, and savory. Light-medium bodied with good carbonation, smooth, and finishes clean.

Bottle at kaarle xii, helsinki. Hazy brown color, white head. Smoky, wheaty, yeasty aroma. Nice smoky taste, wheat, yeast, some malts.

Their Marzen gets the extra tenth point. I really don’t know why, because this is just as beautiful. Maybe because I am partial to Marzens. Good God the Germans know how to brew. Too bad they had to water down their beers for the philistines when they emigrated to other counties.
